Will this be the worst season in LSU football history???

How do we go from the best season in college football to this? I think this will go down as the worst season of LSU football for me... simply because I didn't expect them to be this terrible!
I know there has been some bad seasons in the past, but much wasn't expected back then. This is supposed to be an elite SEC program, but it doesn't seem like it on the field.
I also know they lost players, etc., but other schools have too! The ship has to be turned or recruiting will suffer bigtime!!!
How many of us saw this coming? 2020 just needs to be over with... 31 days to go!

Really man, we only lost like 5-6 good players just like everyone else. It just doesn’t make sense.

In both 1989 and 1998 we started preseason top 10 and finished with a losing record. That's probably the only other two seasons where there was some expectation and we fell flat

1998 says hello. That was a very talented team and started off 3-0 ranked 6th. Then the roof caved in when Quincy Carter rolled into town. That 1998 team was much more talented top to bottom than this one. And outside of Tenn and to a lesser extent UF and Ark, the SEC was pretty mediocre that season.

Not even in the realm of worst. Look at it for what it is. We lost 35+ players in ONE YEAR. The replacement players got zero strength and conditioning and zero spring practice. Fall practices weren’t normal. Just relax

Arnsparger grabbed this program by the throat and dragged it out of the ditch. It's going to take a no bs task master to eventually fix this mess. How in the hell do you go from being single season greats to an abyss? Shitty coaching.

Made this alter after the 2007 Kentucky loss?

LSU lost a Heisman-winning QB who had the greatest season of all time, was the #1 NFL pick and started on day 1 in the NFL. He was also basically a coach on the field and diagnosed defenses like no one I have seen.
They lost the best WR in football in Chase and also lost Jefferson who was right there with him (and is one of the top candidates for NFL rookie of the year). Jefferson is already #5 all-time for rookie receiving yards in the NFL through only 11 games.
CEH already has 9 TDs for KC and was a 1st rounder. Damien Lewis has been one of the best rookie O-linemen in the NFL and Cushenberry has played every offensive snap for Denver. LSU lost absolute studs at every level of the offense.
On defense, Queen has been one of the best defensive rookies in the NFL. LSU had 5 defensive players drafted in the top 3 rounds. Combine that with losing two of your top defensive players before the season started due to opt-outs and the amount of talent they lost is not even comparable to other teams. They shouldn't be this bad on D, but still, you can see why they would have a down year.

This is like a top 20 team compared to the 1992 team. Good grief.

Nobody can argue with the fact that LSU lost a LOT. But the head scratcher is not that we aren't repeating this year. It's not that we aren't ranked top ten or even top 20.
The head scratcher is that we lost to Missouri, and Mississippi State. We needed Arkansas to miss a field goal. And we were blown the frick out by Auburn.
THOSE are the head scratchers.
And to be quite honest, LSU should have beaten the Aggies this past Saturday. The ONE TIME that the defense shows up to win the game, the offense now lets us down.

CEH
Remember who you are talking to...many on this board though CEH should've been behind our 2 freshmen rb's last year after 3-4 games.
They also don't understand how true freshmen qbs can't just step in and our offense not miss a beat. Hell they were unhappy with MB. Same fanbase wanted MB over JB in 2018

I agree. I don't know if it was the combo of losing so many players and some important coaches, but the defensive performances against State, Missouri and Auburn were just completely pathetic.
