Yes, it's Will Wade's fault he lost to Nicolls in year 2 and blew a 15 point lead to Dayton.
You really are a moron.

This wasn’t Woody. This is ALL President Tate and the BOS that weren’t willing to withstand the public scrutiny of keeping Wade. Woody wanted to extend Wade. Fact.
Tate did want Wade out, but Woody was on board. He did not like Wade open criticizing facilities.
Also, McMahon only has a 6 year contract. It would have been extended to 8 if LSU had a postseason ban.

New LSU men's basketball coach Matt McMahon signed a seven-year deal that includes added job security depending on the severity of any sanctions the program receives from the NCAA in its ongoing infractions case, according to a copy of his term sheet obtained Tuesday by The Advocate through a public records request.
McMahon, who left Murray State for the position, will earn $20.3 million in base salary and supplemental compensation over the course of the agreement, an average of $2.9 million annually that makes him LSU’s second-highest paid coach on a per year basis behind football coach Brian Kelly.

Lol.
I know you Wade frick boys don’t want to hear this but it’s a fact: Will Wade fricked up this program and left it in the shape it was in.
McMahon’s first real recruiting class that is his own free of restraints is shaping up to be a good one. His real first year doesn’t start until next season.
Woodward has delivered national championship and top quality coaches across the board. He can take as long as he needs to fix the men’s basketball program that Will Wade broke.

McMahon Contract
McMahon's contract if anyone wants to read it.
If we fire him at the end of this season for poor performance (without cause) we owe him 80% of his remaining base salary and supplemental income. We're looking at a $10 million+ buyout. Excellent contract from Woody

At least there is the offset from whatever job he would get after being terminated. Presumably he might get another HC job at a midmajor so that would mitigate some of the cost. Still a terrible deal.

No mid major is gonna want him the way he is trending

And how is that? You do realize that other programs have had to turn over 9-10 spots on a roster (including Mizzou and Arkansas last year) and made the tournament that same year.
Instead of making a blanket statement, explain why he f'd up the program and left it in bad shape.
BTW had we kept Wade, he would have coached last year with his roster and the #3 ranked recruiting class in the nation. This year, he would have been forced to sit the first 10 games. That's literally it, a 10-game suspension.
What F'd up the program was firing Wade and then hiring a guy who has never had to build a program. McMahon inherited a team at Murray St. that went 27-2 the year before. This guy was not the best person available, but Woody made the lazy hire, mid major coach with some tournament success. Didn't dig any deeper than that.

Please tell me about Woody's great track record in MBB...

In many respects he inherited a worse situation than Brady did when Dale Brown was fired. The NCAA punished LSU far worse than the teams in similar situation because of the way Wade dealt with them. It was bad enough losing almost all of the players, the NCAA has held a cloud over LSU until recently which has kept numerous recruits/transfers from considering coming here.
Fortunately LSU is such a national brand, now that the cloud is gone, McMahon can get some talented players to come here through recruiting and the portal.

Woodward made a good hire in baseball because our fanbase cares WAY more about baseball than basketball.
He was lazy with MBB.
He got LUCKY that one of, if not the, GREATEST WBB of all time WANTED to come coach at LSU. Woody didn't bring Mulkey here. She wanted to come here. Don't credit Woody with the Mulkey hire or the success that comes with it.

I want to like McMahon because he seems like a genuinely good person but its hard to justify keeping him around if things don't improve.
I get that we don't have the most talented team but yesterday had nothing to do with talent and everything to do with being out coached. There is no reason a press should cripple a team the way it did yesterday and he had no answers for it for 9 straight minutes.

He should. He’s a good coach. Give him some time dammit. What do we have to lose?

He has yet to do anything during a game that makes me think he's above average as a sideline coach. By that I mean he has never switched defenses and killed another teams momentum or ran plays to attack a weakness over and over or made adjustments to overcome whatever the other team is doing that is hurting us. But he is a good guy so I hope he turns it around.

Time. The other schools in this conference are taking Basketball seriously and most have exceptional coaches. The more entrenched Mussleman, Buzz, Beard, Oats, etc. have to build their programs up, the harder it becomes to establish our own.

McM had to know that he was a transition guy. Who would want to follow Wade? You let this guy deal with the shite fallout, then sell out for a big name.

I think he will get year 3 no matter the outcome of this season.
Now if next year is abysmal, I think he would leave Woodward no choice.
