Ok so you weren't bashing. But own up. You called him out on something that you knew absolutely nothing about because right now the "cool" thing to do is question the coaches

no, not at all .. i have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years now .. i have been around the ballpark for awhile now .. last weekend's regionals wasn't my first LSU baseball game ... when the team doesn't come out to do a victory lap or if the team basically does anything or doesn't do anything as a group, who generally is the person that determines what the team does ??? that's right !!!!!!!!! you guessed it !!!! the HEAD COACH ... so, when a team doesn't do this, yes, the initial feeling is going to be that the head coach either told them not to or suggested to them that they not take the victory .. so no .. i am not clueless on the surface since i didn't hear this WWL interview you did .. i was just at the ballpark that night waiting for my neighbor's kid who was down there waiting for the lap .. i also saw the players looking at and point at the fans doing such .. i also saw the players summoned to the clubhouse by coaches ... so, using this as the basis for my deduction .. i am going to assume that the head coach made this decision ..

who's to say maineri gets in his office and an hour later says, "shite, i should have had them do that lap for the fans ..." and just say that on WWL to cover bases ? not saying that is what he did or why he did it ... but no, i am not going to buy the "forgetting" part ... you're going off of what you heard maineri say on WWL .. i am going off of a combo of common sense and what i saw from a very good vantage point ... "no clue" doesn't come into play here at all ..

we did have a lot of hard hit balls, but SB was almost always lined up perfectly defensively in the outfield. they had a great scouting report on our hitters and made the defensive adjustments necessary to take hits away. it seemed like it really did not matter where we lined up defensively, bc they were hitting the ball where they wanted. SB outplayed and outcoached us this weekend

PM did something 3 other top programs in the SEC could have accomplished the last weekend of the regular season and couldn't. Why would he be on the hot seat in 2013? Maybe the incoming class will help alleviate many of the current challenges.

It's amazing to me that such a cluster job could happen in the outfield. Jones would have helped immensely in CF if he stayed put, but it was obvious there was no good alternative for 2B and please don't say Raph could have worked there. Who made the decision to offer Arby?? Was this after it became woefully apparent to the staff that no legit outfielders were on the roster and was a stopgap as there is no way someone watched him at the plate in games pre-offer if they thought he was going to be an effective solution as a part time starter. I like Sciambra, but the jury is out on whether he develops into a good hitter, too. USCe ends up with a very productive FL JUCO player in LB Dantzler and LSU ends up with with Fields and Yocum???

SB, after working the count batter after batter, hit the ball with authority through the infield the entire super, LSU not so much. I would like to see a new hitting coach, the same meme plays out every season. Hitting an average fastball is easy, recognizing and hitting good offspeed pitches not so much, the guys need better coaching.

Something is somewhat off with recruiting (put the post-2009 party aside), there should be more impact new comers on the roster and in the field than are evident. How many other teams were consistently having to juggle lineups the entire season?

Will SB ever have that many high quality, seasoned players on a squad again? Probably not, but they sure took advantage of their skills and created good fortune.

I have no problem keeping Manieri. He's not the greatest gameday coach, but he generally gets the job done. We were a national seed and had a good year, no denying that.

My issue is if he continues to turn a blind eye to our biggest problem...our hitting coach. We just wasted a team that had the talent and pitching to win the whole damn thing because Paul didn't do what should have been done a year ago and find a new one. I'm not one of those fans to call for a head coach's head after a successful season (see Les 2012), but if Paul continues this trend with Javi something must be done. He is not the right guy to be hitting coach at one of the great baseball programs in history. We should never accept mediocrity.

Paul needs to recruit better out fielders, they were bad this season. Get a hitting coach, and teach these players how to run bases. If all these things are corrected then he will nit be in hot seat. If their not then yea fire his arse

Have you read this thread at all? I've continually said my problem lies more with Javi than Paul, but if PM is going to be stubborn and ignore the problem with our approach at the plate he needs to be run as well. If he is going to be Gerry Dinardo to Sanchez's Lou Tepper, he needs to leave. Maybe Sanchez turns it around next year, and our hitters play to their ability, but if it's the SOS he needs to go, or Mainieri needs to be held accountable.

Yea, I kind of got that the other day when he had a guy stealing down 2 runs in the 8th inning.

My comment wasn't directed at you, just a general statement of my opinions.

Only way Mainieri would even have a shot at being fired next year is if he missed the tournament altogether again...and he really didn't deserve to miss it last year.

LSU had a better conference BA than either Fla or S.C. & we were 4th overall for all games. Is Javi the best available..doubtful. But what happened the past 2 wkends is our best hitters went in a slump and that happens to every team & great player over the course of a season. Our slump just came at the wrong time. I do agree with Skip that we need better athletes, as he noted Fla had 11 players drafted, SB 9 ( or was it 7) and LSU only had 5. A great season for SB. Now lets see them sustain it for 3-4-5-6 more yrs.

Agreed with everything you said. We can def do better hitting wise, but people are wayyyy over reacting right now. If you look at the season as a whole, statistically, we were not a bad hitting team compared to the rest of the SEC.

This team as a whole was an absolute shell of what they were when we took 2/3 at USCe. I'm not sure what happened but it just seemed to snowball after that blown game to MSU.......it's just like we blew everything we had just winning the SEC reg season title and getting the national seed.....strange.

One thing to be 3 hit by a guy who is top 10 round draft pick, but the guys record was 2-3 coming into the game.

And the guy we made look like Cy Young on Saturday was drafted in the 33rd round.

It was one weekend dude. Chill. We slumped at the wrong time. Look at what we accomplished this year. It was not a failure of a season. We didn't get as far as we wanted so yes, some changed can be made. But you are acting like we are a mediocre, pathetic baseball program right now, after winning the conference. Makes you look like a complete arse who is overreacting and living off of your emotions right now.

Heck, we fired Smoke, and he at least got there. And the only time PM did, it was with Smoke's players.
