It's really tough to say. There has been two major bat changes since then and he is still in double figures.

Kind of what I was getting at. Also he's been pretty clutch for us.

He'll go before 33 most likely but I would love for him to fall to the rangers there.

I agree he does sometimes get bad jumps/reads on balls, but it usually isn't noticeable because he speed bails him out. Leon was a better center fielder, imo. Also, he's a fastball hitter, and guys like that can sometimes struggle getting used to pitching at the next level. I'd like to see him take a more gap to gap approach at the plate as well.

With all that said, I think he'll get drafted in the first round because the draft isn't about what you are, it's about what teams think you can be.

Well said. You put it better than I could.

What?

I think he'll have a great career in the pros.

I think he will too. I just don't know where he will go in the draft.

I'm talking strictly catching fly balls. Mahtook is obviously the better all around player.

The 1st round is mainly high school kids and pitchers. Obviously there's exceptions. This year is VERY pitcher heavy, so I'd be surprised if he's selected before the 1st supplemental round or 2nd round. Definitely think he's worth a 1st Rd pick (zero negatives at this point). But I don't know how realistic it is.

I really don't know how much different his HR numbers would be with the "hitter friendly" bats of 97. If you watch most of his at-bats, not many of his hits are warning track shots. He either hits a line drive rope or a long homer. Not many of his shots fall a few feet short of the wall.

Now a guy like Katz, who has had several warning track shots this year might have 6 or 7 homers at this point in the season with a different bat.

With all that said, if Mikie was using those juiced bats, he might be swinging more for the fences, so I guess you'll never know.

I agree top 15 pick. If you look at the projected top 4 outfielders in this years draft, Bradley, Springer, Dickerson and Mahtook, all projected in first round, Mahtook is by far having a better season at this point. In my opinion I don't see how he could go later than the first round. Wont be surprised to see Mahtook go earlier in the draft. The post earlier that said Mahtook would be stuck in the minor leagues because of too much talent in the minors. Thats ridiculous. Enjoy what we have now boys because it wont be long when we are watching him in the big leagues. It's ashame he wont be here another year to see what records he would break here at LSU.

He'll go top 20 with the pace he's on right now.

Not much OF talent in college this season.

You give him the mid 90's bats and he's going for btb 30 HR seasons.
