This is only Kentucky's 2nd super regional appearance. I don't think they will pitch backwards, but you never know.

I don’t think that’s a good strategy for a Super. You can’t really afford to throw away a game and put yourself in a situation where you need to win the next two. You’reasking for trouble.

You couldn’t be more wrong.

Kentucky’s strategy in the regular season was to try to steal one. Two would be great but they really wanted one.

One win does nothing for them in the supers.

Beating Floyd and getting it to game 3 is the only chance they have. I bet they start their third starter against Skenes.

I thought Mingione might be smug enough to try this, but I don't think you can just give away game 1 and bank on winning two in a row on the road against us right now.

When did their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd pitchers throw this weekend? This would matter since their Regional even ran slightly longer than ours.

I don't think it will work, not in the least. I just think it's their only chance. I think LSU goes to Omaha in two.

They don’t even have a clear cut #1 anyway so it don’t matter.
They will lose game 1 regardless and let them think 5hat they will win the next 2. Fat chance!

What’s more accurate is that they don’t have a clear #2 or #3 that they trust in the postseason. Zach Lee is their #1 starter. After that they leaned heavily on relievers, Darren Williams and Mason Moore, in their regional.

Doesn’t matter. LSU pitching staff had their come to Jesus moment and have pitched well the last couple of weeks.

Even the greatest teams have rock-bottom moments. And there will never be a more definitive rock-bottom for a pitching staff than game 3 vs Miss. St.

And to their credit, most all of them have gotten their shite together since then.

It is different. All else is not equal. It’s a super regional. A little different

LSU has had a definite uptick in hitting recently. I don't think Ky will pitch backwards in the Super vs. LSU.

There's no way anyone would do this in a super regional. They have to try to beat Skenes.

If Skenes wins game 1, LSU would plan game 2 the way they did game 2 of the regional- Floyd, with Hurd slotted to relieve and finish, and Guidry to close if needed. That ends the series.

I said it late in the regular season several times, LSU is vulnerable in a longer format (regional or 1st week of Omaha), because you might get stretched beyond 3 games. But in Super regional, and if we make CWS Finals, you can project Skenes to win 1, and dump everyone into winning the second.

Beating Oregon State behind good pitching from "what's left" has me feeling good about that first weekend in Omaha...

I very much believe that is how they are going to approach the weekend. But this is a huge motivation tool for Ty Floyd. Jay said it yesterday too. No one gives Ty the credit he deserves, and I like our chances with Ty facing them a second time when he is more mentally tough than when he first faced off against them.

LSU was a dropped fly ball from sweeping them last time. Pitching backwards didn’t work then.

Skenes has two losses this year, so hes not unbearable. They don't think they can outpitch Skenes. They are going to try to keep it close. If their starters can hold LSU to 4 or 5 runs and they can manufacture 2 or 3 themselves, they can get to the bullpen in the 7th or 8th inning and who knows what happens then.

Remember, they play small ball. Bunts, steals, advance the runners. That type of ball tends to force mistakes by the defense. Also factor in the fact that our catcher lets a lot of balls get past him.

UK can score runs without a hit, if they can get people on base with walks, HBP, or errors. Obviously, Skenes screws up that because he doesn't walk many, but I think they are going to try to get his pitch count up.
