You ain’t lying. They won one title since the 70’s and it seems like at least one fan has to show their asses like they’re still relevant anytime college baseball national championships are brought up. I guess they have to remind folks because no one would know otherwise.

No. Too much competition these days for a Skip kind of run.

Its real real nice to be sitting here and contemplate such a question without chance of being termed "a loon".

Seems silly to care about passing USC as they haven’t been relevant in 20+ years

I can see him winning another 2. Baseball just has a gauntlet of a post season, and it’s harder than ever to win. LSU baseball is more relevant than USC, that’s good enough for me

Lol no

It wouldn’t shock me if it took another 3-4 years until we’re in a title series

Here is a list of every team to win a championship. I've always found it fascinating that out of 76 crowned champions, only 31 different teams have won. Also, LSU being up there near the top sure does feel great.

More pressing: with a couple more wins we can be 4th overall in Omaha wins. With 2 more appearances we can be 4th overall in appearances.

We may never catch Texas in appearances or USC in championships, but we can be the best at everything else. We are already the #1 in everything over the last 40 years.

One every 5 to 7 years is a reasonable expectation with NIL, our program and CJJ.

I had a conversation with a friend of mine after we beat Texas if we thought we'd pass USC in our lifetime, we agreed we would, but we may be 80+ years old.

Biggest advantage to doing this is that USC doesn't seem to be putting much, if anything, into their baseball program so it is not like they will come and start winning championship's regularly.

I believe we will eventually pass them. It might take 40 years but we will get there

I’m more worried about Texas than USC

But yeah it won’t be JJ that does it but if he did that would make him the greatest coach of all time

This is an insane post lol.

Mainieri won a title in his 3rd year then never won another. And that wasn’t because he didn’t have some great teams. It’s just freaking hard to win it all

Not as much about passing them as becoming the undisputed best.

If Saban can win 7 national titles in 17 years I feel pretty confident Jay Johnson can win 6 more over the next 20 years. He is 46 years old right now that is a reasonable length of time to expect him to coach before retirement.

No but even if he gets us to the CWS every other year and a title every 5 years I call it a win.

Saban was competing with about 5 teams realistically for titles in those years.

Who cares about USC's titles? Most were before people were even born on here

I believe he can get us 3 to 5 more championships. It will be the next great coach that's gets us over that hump if USC doesn't win anymore within the next 20 to 30 years. I would be shocked and surprised if we do it before then.

It took 32 years to win the first seven.
