Remember that Blackwell came to LSU as a D-Lineman. And after a couple of years, he was mired deep in the depth chart. Had he stayed there, he would have likely ended up a career backup.
But Miles recognized that perhaps Blackwell would do better on the O-Line. And the move was made.

It's speaks a lot about a player or a coach when the try to place the blame when things go wrong on one single person or group rather than taking some of the blame upon yourself.
Blackwell should have been in court following 1/9 showing the district attorney where the Bama DL touched him on a doll.

Not contradictory at all. Les and LSU likely have 2 more NCs in his 9 years if not for his flaws in time management, stubbornness, gambling fetish at times and controlling nature. While many would say his gambling won us a title in 2007 (I disagree), it has cost us more times than helped us.
In the end, I like Les and am glad he is LSU's coach right now, but I have no illusions to the fact that he is a flawed coach.
