He went 9-3 back to back. I don’t give coaches credit for bowl wins anymore since nobody gives a shite about playing in the pop tart or cheese it bowl.

Somehow though, I bet if he had lost those meaningless games, the detractors would be quick to talk about him going 9-4.

I still love this new narrative. Kelly Bashers have started a whole new narrative that doesn't count bowl games.
It's ingenious. Let's not count a game against a Power 4 team with a winning record.
Never mind that they would bitch to high heaven if LSU lost a bowl game.
Yep. The goalposts are constantly going to move though.
If he wins close, it doesn't matter because he shouldn't have and could've lost.
If he wins big, the other team wasn't good.
If he loses close, the team has no killer instinct.
If he wins a bowl game, it doesn't count anyway.
If he loses a bowl game, it absolutely counts.

The loss to USC doomed this season if we're being honest. Go win a game at Clemson to start 2025, and we should be destined for a playoff spot. Go lose game 1 again, and it'll be another year struggling to get to 9-3.
Is 10 wins the standard by which you judge success?

I think LSU is still poised to take that next step and contend for titles in short order.
Look, for LSU to be contending for a natty this season, everything would've had to have gone perfectly from jump for Kelly and to be fair it hasn't. He made some mistakes along the way, no doubt about it. I appreciate that he's been willing to rectify those mistakes and the program is now set up on a foundation that gives alot of optimism in it's direction.
Two things can be true at once. Kelly was not perfect and made some mistakes along the way AND the program is also on the right track and all the metrics/data we have would lead you to believe they can still make that next step in the coming years.

I don’t think 10 wins warrants being considered a terrible year but I look at “how” they lose. Kelly hasn’t won an opener and the first 2 were absolute fiascos. The first year every phase of the team looked like the bad news bears, the second year was somewhat better but still collapses that caused the losses.
There is blame to be given to the players in these instances but when you are obviously not prepared and lose ugly, that’s on the coaches and mainly the head coach because he’s the one who instills the discipline, focus toughness, preparation and never quit mentality.
This year’s opener at least showed some improvement from the standpoint of looking prepared but I personally feel Kelly got conservative offensively and it cost them the game.
Most of the losses are brought about by untimely miscues, whether it be false starts in the red zone, holding on a big third down play, snapping the ball when the kicker and holder aren’t ready, PI on third down or offsides on third and less than 5, it’s a myriad of mental mishaps that can be placed at the feet of your HC, he instills the discipline and focus and that is what is lacking when you commit those types of mistakes.
Lastly, the Bama loss was glaring that LSU got out coached, schemed, play called and had formations that created number mismatches that LSU wasn’t ready for and had 2 weeks to prepare for. I think he gets 2 more years leeway to see if he does keep this class together , that he can possibly muster up a playoff berth, I’ll be waiting.

Which Jimbo? Because Kelly will never reach the heights of FSU Jimbo

Back-to-back 10 wins seasons.
Do you give credit for season opening cupcake games?
Moron.

No Jimbo was actually was a good coach at one point
Posted on 11/14/24 at 11:39 am to 756
Yea let’s fire a coach who wins 10 per season. Ask Florida how that worked out.

I do because players don’t opt out of openers like they do in meaningless bowl games.

Will BK go the same route as Jimbo F?
Hopefully. I hope Bryce Underwood is BK's Jamis Winston and we win another Heisman and a Natty, then have a chance for another one. I would be happy with that at this point.

Vincenzo Pantangelli to him mom, "Mommy, mommy, I don't like that Coach Kelly. I don't want to count a game that LSU won versus a P4 team with a winning record."
Vincenzo Pantangelli's mom to her son, "Okay dear, you go ahead and ignore that game. You have the best imagination. You just keep living in your own special world where the things YOU want to count do count, and the things YOU don't want to count don't count."
Vincenzo Pantangelli's mom to her neighbor, "Queer kid. He's dumber than dirt and fricking insane. Yesterday, he was complaining about sand in his vagina."

The streak of coaches winning a natty at LSU will stop with BK. 3 more seasons of mediocrity!
