Ed O’s recruiting? I don’t think that guy’s pull/power is a huge factor! Heck, Hat could recruit at LSU and O is far from indispensable, of course he (O) thinks he is the bomb, that is overrated BS!!

Who knows if it helps or hurts recruiting, path to playoffs , rivalries, etc. That stuff is all secondary to being part of THE MEGACONFERENCE. Think about all the other conferences. Everyone in the Big 10 not named Ohio State, Michigan, or Penn State will wish to God they could be friggin’ Vanderbilt, for God’s sake. The SEC will control college football for the foreseeable future, and LSU doesn’t have to worry about being left behind - unlike every team in the Big 12, PAC 12, ACC, etc. That means everything.

This. In the past couple years A&M has made it much harder to recruit the state of texas whether people want to admit it or no
Hiring a coach worth a shite and pouring more resources into the program is the culprit there

All in all it probably helps. With no undefeated Oklahoma rolling into the playoffs for their annual beat down there's a spot open for a second SEC team. It's a very slight negative to recruiting but Orgeron will never have any problem pulling in elite talent to LSU.
And all those old rivalries aren't going away, they'll just be biennial going forward. That's not my preference but I can live with it.
I'd still vote no if I had a vote. Mostly because of how humiliating it would be for Texas.

I think it's fantastic from a monetary standpoint for the university & the conference. I also love it from a fan standpoint with quality opponents joining the league.
LSU would definitely benefit if a 12 team playoff comes to fruition.

I think it will hurt in recruiting with another big time program in the state next door that will try and get their hands on LA recruits. It makes it to where LSU can’t have a couple down years in a row or else they could really fall behind. The only teams it helps is UT and OU, especially UT as they were on their way to irrelevancy

I don’t really see how it’ll impact recruiting much. We’ll still land most of the top in state kids with bama the biggest threat. If anything that kid who gets overlooked or doesn’t get a commitable offer ends up with one of them versus say Miss state or Arkansas
We’ll still always be in the mix for Texas kids in our sweet spots. Maybe this’ll shore up things for them a little

texas is only going to make it harder.
How is them being in the sec going to make it any harder than them in the big 12? Texas is Texas no matter what conference they’re in. They won’t all of a sudden recruit much better because they’re in the SEC. I don’t buy it.

Think it is upside, but I really do not expect it to end with two. More to come, so I will wait till the dust settles.

Everyone assumes this means more money - but how much are we actually looking at? Not worth saving Texas's sorry arse for 2 or 3 million per year.

OU and UT will buy victories.

Hurt, so the SEC will do it.

You don’t think that playing in the SEC is an allure to players?

god shut up Ed’s a great recruiter he better continue being great at it. It’s really all he brings that and motivation
I totally disagree. Besides being one of the premier elite recruiters in the country. Ed O is also the best and the most successful four year head coach in college football today as well and although you give him exactly zero credit.
As he not only went 15 & 0, won an SEC Championship and a Natty with the greatest college football team ever in history in only his third season at LSU, but he also reeled in a very cool $55 million dollar bonanza for his university as well. Not to mention that 15 & 0 season is also the greatest single season of all time in LSU history.
Hence, it looks to me like you Tom Herman supporters better get used to Ed O because Ed O will be at LSU for as long as he desires.
Meanwhile, besides the SEC Championship and the Natty with the greatest college football team Ever in college football history, Ed O's win-loss record against AP top-10 opponents is 13 & 5, which beats every other head coach in America by a mile.
Then on top of that, Ed O has brought home top-five national recruiting classes for the past three seasons in a row. Not to mention that Ed O has LSU ranked number one in recruiting in the SEC currently.
Yet, you Tom Herman supporters still can't give Ed O any credit for his very outstanding record of success he has accumulated in only four short years. Amazing.
Moreover, with Auburn and Alabama moving to the SEC East, that means LSU will become the new top dog of the SEC West and it will stay that way as long as Ed O remains at LSU.
Why? Because everyone wants to play for the top dog school and because no one in the SEC West knows how to bring them home to LSU better than Ed O.
Furthermore, LSU will continue to play Alabama every season, but on a neutral field for the SEC Championship.
Moreover, when the College Football Playoffs expand to 12 teams, both Alabama and LSU will also be in the College Football Playoffs every season.

Texas has ruined every conference they’ve ever been in so no it doesn’t help us or anyone else in the SEC. Texas is a cancer

Money: helps
Excitement: hurts
Strength of schedule: hurts
National relevance now that we won’t be the team every one expects to give Bama their toughest test: big hurt
Recruiting: hurts really bad
Losing biggest and best games every year: astronomical hurt
I see no upside to this move as it is EXCEPT for the program to make a lot of money which is obviously their man concern.
As a product, it ONLY has upside if SEC is leaving the NCAA.
Not playing Bama every year is bad for LSU. You’re either a pussy, a dumbass, or a combination of both if you think otherwise. You don’t “happily” take the #1 team off your schedule. Arguably the biggest game in the nation every year. It gives us publicity. National recognition. A competitive goal to achieve. Think of all the fringe schools that would kill to get a home and home with Bama for national attention. And here a bunch of you idiots want to get rid of that game so we can be in a pod with Ole Miss. give me a break.
To the idiots that are thinking that way. You’re dead wrong. It makes LSU no better than UCF by dodging big games. And we’ll be a lot like UCF (left out) come playoff time if this really is the decision

You're out of your mind, which is not surprising since you are always out of your mind.
Anyway, with OU and Texas moving to the SEC West and with Auburn and Alabama moving to the SEC East, that means LSU will become the top-dog in the SEC West.
Moreover, as long as Ed O remains at LSU, LSU will always remain the top-dog in the SEC West. As all the best of the best recruits want to play for the top dog and there is no better recruiter in America than Ed O at bring those recruits home to LSU.
In addition, LSU and Alabama will still play every year, but on a neutral field in the SEC title game.
Then when the expanded College Football Playoffs become a reality in the near future, both LSU and Alabama will both be in the College Football Playoffs every year.
