The biggest negative is that the SEC is losing its identity. LSU is going to be LSU no matter who is in the Conference but with so many new teams in the last 10 years the SEC is really not a Conference as we have known Conferences in the past. I really think that 14 was the absolute Maximum to retain the SEC Identity but with 16 teams it is really unmanageable.

I believe the new NIL rule is what helps LSU tremendously in this situation. It also will help Ohio St, Georgia, and other big programs that have an entire state fertile for recruiting themselves without in-state competition. So, if money is no longer an object of the kids decision (bc he’s getting paid no matter what), why not just stay home, be close by to take care of his family, they can come see all his home games, he got money in the bank, life is good, he’s a hero. I predict there will be a lot of “fencing” amongst states with sole big-named programs.

Because of LSU’s brand, the fact kids will be getting paid big bags to stay home to play at LSU, there won’t be anymore Joe McKnight, Landon Collins, Cam Robinson business decisions.

On the other hand, we may not end up with the Patrick Peterson’s from around the country anymore either. BUT Bama/Aub have to split Alabama, 3-5 Florida schools splitting that talent, same in California and Texas.

Yes, I’m very bullish on LSU.

If the playoffs expand it won’t hurt SEC teams at all. If they don’t, it will.

We don't have a true rivalry

We used to have two, Ole Miss and Tulane. Of course Tulane has gone kaput, but Ole Miss is on track to again become a powerhouse and any new conference alignment retains them as an annual rival for the Tigers.

I literally said losing our best annual games hurts

I don’t care about the playoffs if that means as a fan my enjoyment in terms of fun games is lessened.

To me that’s the same is padding your schedule with cupcakes to get those 6 wins for bowl games that coaches started doing in the 2000s when bowl games exploded.

It’s gonna hurt recruiting the Houston area. All of the SEC recruit Houston because a lot of those kids wants to play in the SEC. Now throwing Texas in the mix will make it challenging

Can you imagine playing in the national championship game with no threat of having to play Bama twice?

It will be nice.

Hurt especially with recruiting. It’s a huge mistake. IMO

However, with them in conference, it just adds to the toughness of getting thru it to the championship.

The new playoff will take the top 12. Two losses won’t be anything for our conference to get in.

There is no lack of talent in the SEC. If we avoid Bama until the SEC Title or Playoffs, we will be completely fine.

How many of those years that we avoid Bama do we play OU and an enhanced Texas? How many times do we then play 1 of the 3 in the playoffs 2 weeks later?

How many 2 loss LSU's have you seen? That now becomes a 3 loss question.

Texas will no longer be having their usual patsy schedule. Now they will have to play SEC teams regularly and be getting the arse whippings and injuries that come with that territory. It will be interesting to watch.

I wouldn’t say it helps or hurts. I don’t see a top recruit in Louisiana going to OU or Texas over LSU or Alabama. Same could be said for top Georgia and Florida athletes. They might snag a good one here and there but they won’t be getting the Fournettes & Jamar Chases of the world.

This hurts A&M the most.

You can't stop progress. Would you rather Tex and Ok join the Big 10? A Super Conference will happen eventually so might as well be part of it not competing with it. Plus soon the playoffs will be 12 teams. Say LSU has 2 losses and they are to Bama and Texas/Okla. If those two are in the top 5 and 12 are getting in if they were close losses LSU still gets in.

Another factor is division alignment. Possible they pull Alabama and Auburn to the east. To me, it's all positives as long as Texas remains as a mediocre team.

I don't think it has much impact recruiting wise. OU already recruits Texas/ some national for top guys.

Such a chicken shite attitude.

It's pragmatic on one sense, avoid playing them twice. With the upcoming CFP playoffs, a 1 loss to LSU Bama makes the CFP under that scenario.

But if the SEC goes to PODs there is a chance LSU has to play them 3 times. play them as a regular season out of pod team. End up playing them in the SEC championship, and then they Make the CFP and play them again . Crap. The most likely way I would see that happening is if we split the first two games.
