I’ve heard arguments for and against, so wanted to ask the question directly and get tRant on the record as to how they think this proposed SEC expansion will impact LSU. What say you?

Money: helps
Conference power: helps
Avoiding Bama: helps

Our best annual games traditionally will go away: HURTS

What about recruiting. I can see it both ways because now we’ll have more home games in Texas so we’ll have more exposure there but at the same time Texas and OU will have more exposure here and can also sell being an SEC school.

I’m not too worried about Texas, but could hurt with OU. They’ve done well in recruiting even without the SEC. If they start pulling more top end trench guys and defenders to put them over the edge, could be interesting.

Really depends on the kid though. Some kids aren’t going to want to go that far from home.

Just WIN, compete for NC’s, and recruiting will continue to be strong.

Who cares? We don't have a true rivalry anyway.

Florida? Has UGA and even FSU
Bama? Auburn and Tennessee
Auburn? Bama and Georgia
Ole Miss? Miss State

That leaves Arkansas and aTm. aTm is scared shitless of Texas. They might have wanted LSU to be that rivalry, but now if Daddy comes home, they will slide LSU to the back burner (unless we end up in the division with them, with no Texas). They will still keep a close eye on Texas though. Arkansas is just MEH...

Such a chicken shite attitude. I think Oklahoma is proof you can only rise so high when your competition is lowered. I think we play better with them as our barometer every year.

It will hurt in the sense that it will make Texas a much more formidable force in recruiting. It will impair our ability to scoop up some of the best players from Texas.

The positive side - $$$$$

There is no lack of talent in the SEC. If we avoid Bama until the SEC Title or Playoffs, we will be completely fine.

I'm on the fence. Adding Texas and OU is great exposure, money and recruiting.

However, with them in conference, it just adds to the toughness of getting thru it to the championship.

The teams in SEC beat up on each other and then you will have good teams from weaker conferences sneaking into the top spots in the polls.

Easier for Ohio State and Clemson to garner top spot. They won't have to go thru a gauntlet of Bama, Texas, OU, Florida, Georgia, or Auburn

LA base USC and UCLA will be in there to. Because the media market wants it.

LSU could be be light years ahead of Ohio State in strength , but 2 losses to say Bama and Texas and they are on outside looking in.

Doesn't seem right until they fix the selection process and polls

The LSU/A&M rivalry existed long before they joined the SEC, and not just in the sport of football.

It’s a natural rivalry and both fan bases should embrace it as such.

This. In the past couple years A&M has made it much harder to recruit the state of texas whether people want to admit it or not, texas is only going to make it harder. The main thing will be making sure they don’t start seeping into Louisiana. Sark is already making it a priority.

I don't see how it helps whatsoever. It's just another Texas team to compete with for Texas recruiting. We would lose the SEC advantage over them.

As long as Ed O remains the head coach of LSU, it won't hurt recruiting. As Ed O has gone national to recruit for the past two seasons before 2022 because the recruiting classes in Louisiana as a whole was pretty down, and LSU finished in the top-five in the country in national recruiting both of those times.

However, if the Tom Herman admirers/Ed O haters get lucky and get Ed O fired. Then yeah, I'd worry about recruiting.

Won’t help our recruiting situation in Texas. That’s for sure.
