Why wouldn't he stay with a strong possibility to run the show in 2024 with most likely the best and most stable roster and staff he's been a part of?

Why wouldn’t he stay? He’s been a back up quarterback with career stats of bout a one to one ratio for touchdowns to interceptions, 55% completion rate, and no big times plays in games yet to be decided.

Coach has already showed to him his willingness to give him playing time and there will probably be more of that since this is Daniel‘s last year of eligibility.

And no I’m not talking about a 2 quarterback system. lol

to play QB at LSU if injury happens next year and likely is to happen if the dude in front of him tries running that much in the SEC.

If not, to start at QB for LSU for 2 more years.

I guess those would be the obvious reasons…dumb arse.

Anyone who thinks nuss is going to stick around if JD is named the starter in advance has lost their mind lmao.

Go ahead and downvote, but also bookmark this bc it’s going to be right in a few months

fricking can't believe this is even a question

It doesn’t matter what you or I think. Dykes started him week one over a guy who became a Heisman finalist. He’s been in their system and knows the offense. He knows the other players. He has the inside track to that fricking job, no matter what some of you prognosticators want to believe. There is not a clear path for anyone else besides maybe Caleb Williams if he gets tired of Cali to be the starter there.

I like Nuss and he has a lot of talent, but he’s not going to just walk into the room at Bama, UGA, OSU, TCU or UT and take the job away like some of you are predicting. Now SMU, Utah, Auburn. NC St- those are pretty realistic options where he would likely be the favorite to start if he decides to leave.

It’s funny to me how personally invested some of you are in either Nuss of Daniels.

Nuss is staying — stop speculating on the transfer subject. Walker is the one who might transfer.

So you think Nussmeier can go somewhere else and not have to compete for the QB position?

Do you realize that Nussmeier is at LSU and that LSU is one of the Premier Football Programs in the country? He could leave and go to say ULL or La Tech or UTSA or something like that but he isn’t walking into a position like he has at LSU anywhere else.

Regarding Walker Howard, he is RS Freshman who requested to be Redshirted so by that request he ran the Scout Squad this past season and has not had an opportunity to run with the 1st or 2nd team yet. Those snaps were given to the QBs who were going to play. How much time are the coaches going to spend on a player who is not going to play? I swear some of you must have never played Football or organized sports at all.

This is not analogous. Joe would’ve stayed if he could’ve started for 2 years. Joe transferred as a grad student. Nuss will be a Rs sophomore.

Burrow waited 3 years. Flynn 4. Worked out well for both of them.

Nuss has talent, but needs to learn to play smarter. That appears to be what Kelly values. Daniels doesn't turn the ball over, Nuss still does.

People get excited when he "slings it", but he needs to learn when and where to do that. If you have a good team, the worst thing you can do is give away possessions.

Nussmeier is a redshirt freshman, with plenty of time to learn what to do. He's got a solid senior in front of him, a guy who has shown he knows what to do to win a game against Alabama, a guy who's shown he can drive 99 yds in under 2 minutes with the game on the line.
Let him learn another year without the pressure on him.

I simply disagree here. It is a valid question.

Somehow liking Nuss makes people dumb about the obvious reason JD is the presumptive starter. 10 wins. TEN WINS! No coach in America would bench JD. Jeez, just say you prefer Nuss or Walker, don’t act stupid.

When did quarterbacks start getting wins and losses added to their stat columns? Daniels didn’t exactly light the world on fire this season. That’s a fact. I’m not saying that I prefer one over the other. What I am saying is that I don’t think Jayden did enough with his play this season to be automatically granted first team status next season.

Coach is nuts not to have a legitimate competition. TCU is not a bad place.

I wouldn't be shocked if he was told that if he competed well that a 2 QB system isn't out of the question at least early in the year. Usually 2 QBs means both suck but in our case it would be because both are good and complementary to one another. And if one starts to outperform the other than you make them the permanent starter Like Michigan did with McCarthy this year.
Kelly said before this past season that implementing a 2 qb system is very hard and he would do everything he could to avoid it.

Yeah…a part of it.

If he thinks he is ready to start now, and doesn’t want to wait another year playing the maybe Daniels will get hurt game and maybe they won’t jump Walker Howard over me game going into 2024, then I could definitely see him leaving.

I don’t think most people would be willing to do that especially when you get a free transfer now. This is not the same situation as Flynn or Burrow.
