Surprised he is still here. He is a good QB.

Nussmeier grew up in Texas, he's got no particular affinity for Louisiana.

That is incorrect. He has always considered his home state as Louisiana, even though he attended HS in Texas. He committed early and recruited energetically for LSU. If he didn't have the affection for LSU he would have been gone early. He's never had a negative comment about LSU despite the bad words spoken about him by the negative Nellies.

In the only game where Howard saw any action, you could tell that he was not near as developed as the other two - not that he won’t be great, but I think the whole narrative that he will be competing for the starting role next year is kinda debunked at this point.

He threw 4 passes and one was tipped and all were to our 12th string WRs.

Give him another spring and see, but I think Daniels is our QB next year anyway.z

Because he's not a snowflake like you. He's a redshirt sophomore next year. He'll be the guy his junior and senior years. That's all Burrow needed to win the Heisman and become the #1 pick overall. Hopefully Nuss is willing to be patient.

I think we’re looking at a split qb situation next season if Nuss stays. He won’t be on the bench full time. BK has run a 2 qb system before and it would give teams a harder time prepare for both styles. Also considering JD runs a lot , he could be needed even more.

Nuss would still have 2 years as full time starter after that assuming he believes he can beat out Howard.

So it would make some sense for him to stay as long as he isn’t third string .

Because daniels will likely get banged up and nuss will have to be ready

He’s all but guaranteed 2 years as starter
He doesn’t have to learn a new offense

There is competition at other power 5s

Probably was told he’ll split snaps next fall with JD. Then BK did what he said in the bowl game and now Nuss feels he has a path to more PT than he did this year.

And I do wonder why Kelly is so dead set on Daniels above the others

Can't imagine why... Just a wild guess - maybe it's the 10 wins you ducking moron?

Exactly. Adding the fact that everyone knows Daniels mode of operation. I’m doubting he will be as successful this year as he was last.

Chandler Morris, a freshman with a clearer path to the job who knows the offense and was the starter to begin this season. Do you think they will drop 500k for Nuss to likely be a backup to a guy with 2-3 years to play?
Alrigjt haas - Chandler Morris or Garrett Nussmier? Who would you rather have lol?

fricking can't believe this is even a question

It’s not like Daniels lit the world on fire. No need to name call over a valid question.

The only snowflakes I see in this thread are the ones talking shite. I didn’t bash Daniels, I didn’t act like Nussmeier should automatically be given the starting roll and that BK and the rest of the staff don’t know what they’re doing.

I asked a valid question in a respectful manner and some of you cocksuckers think that I’m going after Daniels or BK. Get the frick over yourselves, I thought this was supposed to be a discussion board.

Perhaps he has been told that he is #2 for now, but if he eliminates bad throws or significantly reduces interceptions, he would be #1. And if he waits another year, he is favorite to be #1 with an awesome team

That’s just it. It’s not a valid question when we all know the answer. Somehow liking Nuss makes people dumb about the obvious reason JD is the presumptive starter. 10 wins. TEN WINS! No coach in America would bench JD. Jeez, just say you prefer Nuss or Walker, don’t act stupid.

Take his spot

How many starting quarterbacks at LSU who had eligibility remaining lost their spot to be the starter the following year in the off season??

Maybe we gave Howard too much hype and he needs more than a redshirt year to develop?

Maybe?

He’s not ready. And even physically I think Nussmeier is better.

He said JD is “currently” the “starter”. That can mean a lot of things. Maybe JD starts games and Nuss plays too like they did in the bowl game. Maybe if Nuss keeps showing improvement in the spring, he becomes the starter. Who knows what will happen.
