When players leave because of competition many say it’s because they have no chest. When a player wants to return with competition, there are those who ask “why”. Maybe he has more chest than the OP has. I say bring it!! Give it all you have and you will be appreciated.

Emery wants to win a national championship! LSU is going to win the national championship this year.

Frankly, I don't think he had a lot of options and LSU needs backs. You never make it through a season without at least one getting banged up.

Because you have options. Some players have better days than others.

Really does not seem to be a place for Emery unless you start to think about a future in coaching

When has Frank ever ran with a feature back? He's gonna keep a heavy rotation and Emery will hopefully be a part of.

I disagree with your premise but sheesh, rough crowd this morning. I gave you a pity upvote.

Eta- probably your aggressive title. Perhaps "Emery-future in coacing?" and folks would a lot more receptive.

He’s still rehabbing, still not quite sure how he still has eligibility but it’s pretty logical for him to stay in a place he knows with that disadvantage instead of going somewhere brand new and trying carve out a role with a busted knee

RB depth was already an issue so it’s kind of a perfect fit for LSU as well with a guy whose been around for a long time, can play the run and the pass in spots, and should be well rested to fill in the back half of the seasons and injuries come into play and he gets healthier

Based on the depth chart, it is very reasonable to see that carries will be very limited for him this season

He was injured (I think seriously) last season.

LSU is short on depth. The “short on depth” schools are probably where his options are. After reviewing them, staying at LSU probably is just his best option.

I do agree with you that he will be the 4th RB.

I didn’t. The question was stupid.

We have zero depth and Emery knows the offense. He has a better shot here as a rotational back showing that he’s healthy for beyond if an NFL team takes a chance on him. Many players get drafted who have had less stats than Emery; and he’s not been injury prone. The injury last year was his 1st, other academic reasons have kept him off the field.

..and my first post in this thread talked depth last year, we were running our 4th & 5th guy due to injuries, is more than enough to keep him here.

I wish the kid the best and I would love for him to be our featured because he has all the physical tools, but he needs to stay healthy and pass all his classes. If he could put it all together, it would be one heck of a story and could be one of the missing pieces to LSU making a run for a NC!

Emery is definitely an insurance policy. He also likely gets significant carries because either Williams or Jackson will miss games this season. Their style of play is violent and that leads to injuries. No one wants to have a freshman RB as a main contributor due to pass protection issues. You can bet Nuss is happy to have Emery back.

Well first, as others have stated, you have made a lot of assumptions. But I’ll ask you this. What happens if Jackson gets injured, and you are all of a sudden left with:

1) Williams
2) A freshman who might not know the playbook
3) A guy that isn’t on the active roster because of legal issues

Nothing, but he can still do that while playing one more year and adding some depth.

Why would we use Williams as the third down back when we have a bull like Kaleb Jackson?

I think Williams will alternate occasionally to give him a breather, but not specifically on third downs.

Frank Wilson has always played multiple backs often feeding the hot hand. Emery, if he has recovered, has the physical abilities to have a hot hand. We have all seen glimpses of why he has had confidence in his abilities. He does provide quality depth and they must be comfortable with his personality.

Most here would hope that a local talent grows mentally and physically and have a great career as long as he isn’t playing against LSU or perhaps the saints. That he gets that opportunity as a Tiger is better.

LSU is a top tier program with facilities and getting players into the NFL. How many of those other top programs are looking for running backs coming off injuries. Sometimes the grass isn’t always greener.

Some five star’s never reach their potential while others get there late. He is a Tiger. I hope he has a great year and future. Preferably with a ball in his hands. If not working in a local industry.

Emery when healthy and available is a 3 down back. He can run between the tackles or bounce outside. He can get short yardage. He's a good receiver and pass blocker. Right now only Williams can do all that out of the remaining backs.

Jackson isn't a proven receiver yet. Holly is a question mark. Durham is a very exciting prospect, but he will take time to learn the system and be a dependable back.
