re: Why would any big name RB wanna come to LSU?

That is funny how you can determine my attitude by this tread. I guess you all dont understand it was a "good cop bad cop" scenario. BY NO MEANS is this the way i feel, how i am. I guess there are many RANTARDS than ranters.

Until KW gets some vision, he's never going to be an every-down back at LSU.
Is it vision, or is he just a little too tentative for a back his size? I'm just not sure at times. He picks a good hole, frequently, and sometimes clears it into the second level. However, often times he stops to make a cut and goes down with contact. He is almost as good in space as Murphy, who is a much smaller, quicker back, though. I hate to see him not be more productive.

But as a recruit it cant be very appealing to go to a college where we go on a "who has the hot hand" basis. MOST big time RB's coming out of college want to be the MAN on the feild, its hard to do that with rbs by comittee
I see where you're coming from.
But look at it another way. What if that big time recruit decides to go to another school for that reason. He's still gonna be battling out with probably 2 or 3 other top notch recruits. So, at taht school, he HAS to be the best RB to see any playing time.
Look at Brandon Jacobs. Obviously, it worked out for him. But the dude rarely ever saw many carries at Auburn behind Brown and Cadillac. Had he been at LSU, he woulda got a lot more carries.
Just another way to look at the situation I guess.

Alley didn't get screwed, he got injured, fat, lazy, and couldn't even impress scouts as a starter at 1AA. KW is noticeably not running as well or as smart as Scott or Murphy. A big name BR wants to come to LSU to be the next Addai or Hester, not because they think up ridiculous thoughts like you have.
Some of you people really need to quit drinking the Kool-Aid. I can give you a few reasons a big time RB doesn't want to come to LSU.............. The Heisman Trophy or any of the half dozen other national awards given out to RB's each year.

Again, if winning individual awards is your top priority, then there are probably better choices out there.

Agreed, I was just making the point. I really feel like it was the reason we lost McKnight to USC.

If you're an LSU fan, why would you rather see LSU play the big-name RB than the best RB?
Jacob Hester was the best RB last year. Not the flashiest...but the best.
Charles Scott averaged 10 yards a touch against Appy State, and sure looked like the best back in that game.
I don't usually get in the middle of these threads, but KW had a couple of really dreadful runs where he basically quit on the run and gave up. IMO he was about the 4th best back in the game last Saturday.
I would be pretty upset if LSU starts playing guys on their reputation rather than their performance. I just want LSU to win, and couldn't care less how many stars a guy has coming out of high school as long as we're winning.

I think you are mistaken regarding Keiland's vision. I think Keiland is your classic tailback who can pick his holes from the tailback's seven yard deep spot. He did pretty well as a freshman running from the I-formation.
Keiland seems to struggle running from the spread formation with timing. He too often hits the hole before it opens or after it closes. Since short gains and no gains prevent repeated carries Keiland seldom seems to get in rhythm with the offensive line.

I think what is holding KW from starting are his fumbling problems in practice
NO. He is not a classic TB because he is hesitant to aggresively hit the hole. He needs to develop significanty in this area.

Overrated Big Name RBs need not apply at LSU. If you are lazy and don't want to compete for the #1 RB position at LSU, look elsewhere. Expect tough competition if you want to be a RB at LSU!
However, if you don't make #1 RB, you better be ready to help LSU win when you are called upon. That responsibility may not interest Big Name RBs from high school.

Running Backs take a beating. Wouldn't you rather take a beating being "the man" while you are getting paid for it? If you have talent, the NFL scouts will know about it. Personally, I like the running back by committee

KW is going to develop?? You're seeing what he has and it is good, not great. Miles and Crowton are getting big $$$ and want to win, win, win. To imply they are holding KW back, shows me
that that these ranters are big KW fan's and are blaming the coaches because they do no "see" KW's "real" talent. The coaches "see" what KW can do and use him appropriately. KW is talented no doubt, but if he doesn't show it on the field consistently (which he hasn't) he is not going to get to play. Not aggressive at times, indecisive with choosing a running lane, and most importantly not showing the coaches that he is the best. Look at the press conferences with Miles during the fall practices. He always mentions CS and RM more often than KW. In fact, he is mentioning Stevan Ridley more and more and seeing #34 run at the spring game and first season game, you see why. Not as fast, a few lbs smaller, but look how quick he hits the hole, goes after tacklers and makes them miss-hit as he goes uphill. KW may.. may be the most talented, but but also may, may be our fourth best TB. Just watch.

Lets see, someone coming in this years class RS next year then When they are a RSF KW/CS/TH are gone, Murphy is a RSS. Michael and Seastrunk will be the guys in 2 years.

Athletes like a chance to play, play in front of big crowds, be seen on TV, and win. They get all that at LSU. So far the number one back at LSU has had his chance in the NFL. If McFadden had come to LSU do you honestly believe he would have been drafted in a later round. JR didn't lead the nation in total offense, get any votes for Hiesman, nor win a championship, but he was drafted number 1. What does that do for your theory?

There is a simple solution to losing playing time to the "back with the hot hand" system.
Always be the best back on the field.
Always be the best back on the field.

Always boggles my mind how Ford is left out of conversations considering the future of LSU RBs.

i'm getting into this conversation late, but pro scouts see film, and talent (or lack of talent). no matter how many carries you get, if you are good they will find you. Especially if you are on tv every week, and playing for championships.(which are the real reasons to come to LSU)
it is hard being so right all of the time

just asking if you were coming out of high school and LSU was recruiting you, and you knew had ran by commitee would you sign
Dude have you been paying attention to football at all? RBBC is all the rage in the NFL. Also 5* RB's and QB's continue to sign with USC. Last week USC used at least 3 RB's most of the game. Where is this magic place that uses 1 and only 1 RB? Its should be obvious that RB is becoming a fungible position at all levels. Rare is the recruit like Peterson that can come in a be a feature back and you don't need those guy's to win. If there is some stud recruit that wants to be a 25 carry per game guy and he doesn't go to LSU, so fricking what. We will always have talent at RB and send guys to the pros.

Has anyone named a big time running back yet?
WTF is your definition? RB's picked in top 10
2008 McFadden 1st round #4 pick
2007 All Day Peterson 1st round #7
2006 Reggie Bush #2 not yet big time in NFL.
2005 2 Auburn running backs that are not big names in the NFL #2 and #5
Cedric Benson not in the NFL #4
2004 None
2003 None
2002 None
7 years only 1 RB that is defined big name.
