Nine days from now LSU travels to Ole Miss for a game every college football fan in the country will watch. The prodigal son, Lane Kiffin, returns to Ole Miss after demolishing Clemson and after dominating the college football news cycle. Kiffin is the king of snark and his dig at the SEC during his halftime comments was theater gold.

ESPN paid the SEC ten billion for ten yr rights. ESPN is carrying the LSU Ole Miss game. ESPN and the entire college football fanbase will be furious if they get deprived of Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss. it’s the biggest drama/ soap opera in college football this year.

A great story fails without a great villain. Peter Pan is boring without Captain Hook. Bobby Knight was great theater and a good villain. He won. Here’s the thing. People only like great villains if they can back it up. Amidst all the drama, Kiffin lays a fifty plus on Dabo, and then says his scout team got more yards on our defense than Clemson did. Yikes. lol

Football is a business. For ESPN, Kiffin might be the biggest star of their show.

Follow the money. Does anyone at ESPN, or any football fan anywhere, not want to see Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss?

I don’t know how the contract between the SEC and ESPN reads. I think it’s a fair guess the exclusive rights to film LSU are included.

My guess is that Sankey wants to suspend Kiffin, but he has to know the blowback of suspending Kiffin for the Ole Miss game would be enormous.

ESPN has advertising contracts where the bigger audience ESPN gets, the more ESPN gets. Who’s more impt to ESPN now? Kiffin or Sankey? lol. I don’t think Sankey has the juice to suspend Kiffin right now. I could be wrong, I often am.

Kiffin is a draw. Andy staples was saying their video numbers go up any time it’s about lane. No way espn wants him sidelined.

You wrote a whole lot of words. "Because they don't have a reason to" would have more accurately and quickly explained the reasoning.

It’s not really common knowledge & certainly not being discussed in sports media, but the SEC has exposed itself to a lot legally.

They wont do shite because they don’t want the risk that comes with LSU firing back. They have enough on their plates already if the athletes refuse to settle.

I didn’t read all of that shite, but they won’t suspend Kiffin because he simply didn’t break any rules.

This reads like they’ll suspend him immediately following Ole Miss.

They better think twice.

Didn’t read it all but he didn’t do anything wrong is why he shouldn’t be suspended.

I wish all this talk would stop. There is no reason to suspend him.

As I said in another post, ESPN gameday this past Saturday had the 3rd highest ratings ever and the show has been on for decades...certainly wasn't related to Clemson the opponent. LSU last season with a mediocre team to be kind drew the 4th highest viewers per game in the SEC. Even Sankey and some of the motherfricker heads of the SEC schools were not going to do anything to piss off ESPN. Do the math.

Because they literally have zero cause to.

ESPN doesn't make the decisions.

Sankey and the SEC would have a lot to answer for treating not rostering and not playing by Kiffin worse that what Nate Oates did last year actually playing a NBA G-league player for 5 games. Not only rostered, but rostered AND played him in 5 games.

Selective enforcement is not a good look for Sankey and the SEC. Sankey isn't doing himself any favors these days.

Reasons the SEC won’t suspend Lane:

1. LSU didn’t break any rules
2. They know LSU didn’t break any rules
3. They know we know they know LSU didn’t break any rules.
4. They know the PCSA has zero chance of passing if they piss off Rep Johnson, Rep Scalise, or Sen Kennedy
5. They know the subsequent lawsuits for any “punishment” administered to LSU will be apocalyptic.
6. They know the people running LSU have the fortitude to follow through with such lawsuits.

It’s Moot. They should drop the federal suit and work with LSU to adopt better rules. They have no standing whatsoever to admonish LSU alone. Of the 5+ schools playing players that are eligible because of TROs, LSU is not among them. They don’t have to like us. But they are risking a hell of a lot if they think they can give us a paddlin because they don’t like our coach, our AD, our President, or our Governor.

ETA - the governor they all can’t stand seems to be pretty good friends with Kash Patel and the Trump administration in general. Take the off ramp Sankey. Don’t bother trying to shame us through lackeys via anonymous sources. It won’t work.

The SEC is really going to hate it when Lane gains a national fan base because she’s cooler and more funny/weird than most coaches AND LSU is winning titles.

The other fan bases sound like we did when we nervously talked shite about bama and Saban his first year there. Deep down we knew.
