If they kick LSU out, guess what? LSU can IMMEDIATELY join another conference without any penalty.

No exit fee. No amortization. Nothing.

While LSU would likely do well as an independent, existing SEC contract would likely complicate things with ABC/ESPN.*

I could see CBS offering them a Notre Dame "lite" type package.

Regardless, other conferences would be falling all over themselves to bring the Tigers in.

*As others have mentioned, SEC could also have some issues with their TV contract if they boot one of their moneymaker universities.

Maybe in the near term with LSU’s urgency. But LSU’s tv numbers don’t suggest a “lite” package.

If Netflix or Amazon Prime get the itch to enter the college football market, as they are with streaming of some NFL games, LSU would break the bank on an exclusive contract with one of them.

Streaming service is the way. They are starving for live content that advertisers crave.

They just want to flex and tell LSU “Hey we can run you out at anytime because we own you”. LSU will just laugh and it will get tossed.

LSU didn’t play any “illegal” players. But the SEC got a turd smeared in their faces and they’re pissed.

This is true. It's beyond the monetary considerations for now. It's arrogance and ego. Wait until they get a load of the damages LSU will seek.

The salient point is that LSU hasn't broken any rules. They have just made Sanky mad.

Yeah, I’m sure Disney would be pissed if the SEC dropped LSU, might void the contract. The SEC probably wants to renegotiate anyway because the BIG10 is getting about $350Mil more per year from their multi-network deals with NBC/FOX/CBS and the SEC is only contracted with ABC.

Sankey royally screwed that up, but what other options does the SEC have at this point? The other networks already have multi-year deals with the BIG10.

Would it be that difficult for LSU to go the ND strategy?
- ABC has all SEC
- FOX has 11AM BIG10
- CBS has 2:30 BIG10
- NBC has night BIG10 / ND home

LSU could do:
- FOX conceded Saturday primetime, could put LSU there.
- CBS has PAC12 primetime, LSU draws better ratings.

There might be opportunities. Just not sure how current deals would conflict here. Amazon / Netflix would probably lick their chops at the opportunity.

I just don’t think in today’s age many power four teams would schedule an independent LsU.

Heck have you seen Notre Dames Schedule this year….pretty much just paying for 12 wins and waiting till the playoffs.

We would need conference affiliation to schedule.

SEC already reported that expelling LSU is highly unlikely, so they have been consulted or made immediate contact.

This is completely irrational. I can't believe any logical person believes this, and I HATE the SEC right now!

Go to the Big12 or ACC? Oh, fun!
Go independent? No SEC schools will play you. Other conferences may follow suit in solidarity. Program is done in five years.
