Right. How would LSU fans have felt about any of these coaches, all with better records than O had at Ole Miss.

Doug Martin, NMSU 46-97
Luke Fickell, Cincy 10-15
Mark Stoops, UK 26-36
Mike MacIntyre, Colorado, 40-59

Or even these, who have a better overall record than O, interim and LSU included (31-33).

Kalani Sitake, BYU 13-13
Matt Luke, Ole Miss 6-6
Steve Addazio, B.C. 44-44
David Cutcliffe, Duke 103-96
Skip Holtz, La Tech 126-99
Joe Moorhead, MSU 38-13

Hell, throw in perceived failures at their last jobs like Pelini, Sumlin, Hoke, Mora and Graham.

All of them have had way more success compared to Orgeron, but the fanbase would have gone mental had they been under serious consideration.

I think that's fairly obvious at this point.

God the national "Oh man that guy is just a perfect fit down there!" was so nauseating and insulting.

I came across this article earlier about John Blake's hiring at Oklahoma, but wasn't sure it warranted its own thread. There were some eerily familiar comments in it.
quote:

“This is a great day for the University of Oklahoma, and I think it's a great day for the state of Oklahoma,” Boren said 22 ½ years ago. “Because we're naming one of our own … above all, he'll be a players' coach.”

quote:

“We had gotten recommendations for him from the Cowboys and other people who really said he would be a great recruiter,” Boren said. “After he got here, I attempted to work with him. My impression of him was that he meant well, that he was a sincere person, he probably had moral scruples and so on and so forth. He just was not well organized. We did everything to try to help him get more organized.”

quote:

“The reason I put up with him for what, three seasons, I thought, having fired Schnellenberger very shortly (before), we don't want to get the reputation of every new coach gets a year or so and that's it, then you change coaches,” Boren said. “I thought that would be a bad reputation for us to have. So I thought maybe it'll work out. We'll give him a chance.

As a reminder, Blake was a career position coach, mostly at DL. His record at OU was 12-22.

Seriously? Saban took over an LSU team that 3 winning seasons in its last 11, including back to back losing seasons.

O took over a team that had winning records all the way back to 2000 and a string of top 5 recruiting classes. Not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

Instead of taking us back to UAB --- which I remember all too well --- why don't you tell us why we should have faith in O. What about him makes him the next great LSU coach? You have already ducked that question once in this thread, I doubt you take it up here. That in itself is our answer.

To be fair, OU's president said "probably".

Butch Davis said he was "sorry" that he trusted Blake when the NCAA put UNC on probation.

Nobody wants LSU to win SEC West/SEC/National Championships as much as it's own fans.

Nothing wrong with a Championship on a regular basis. (Doesn't have to be every year)

Nothing more pitiful and pathetic than the current legion of excuse spewing MA's that have descended on the program. (A direct reflection of the State in General)

Oh damn.

From the article:

quote:

“He immediately said, ‘Well, you haven't given me a chance. You've made me office out of a trailer on the practice field,'” Boren said Blake claimed. “Remember, they were re-doing some of the buildings. And he's the one who insisted, ‘I want my office in the trailer, because I want to be right by the practice field.' But he used that as a ‘you didn't give me the tools, you didn't give me an office to work out of, you didn't give me the help I needed.'

I can see O (and for sure his fanboys) saying the same thing after several years of him coaching.

O has the best LB corp since 2007
O has the most talented WR unit since 2013

There is zero reason this team shouldn’t at least win 10 regular season games this year then.

Sounds like you're prepared to hold Orgeron accountable for the team results this coming season.

Yes there is, experience at the skill positions. How fast they develop will determine games in the beginning of the year.

So you’re pumping O for having all this talent, then backtracking when expectations arise from said pumping.

Typical O fan.

Ever heard the phrase “with great privilege comes great responsibility?” This isn’t ULM he’s coaching.
