I absolutely consider this a rivalry game. My daughter goes to Auburn, the whole rest of the family graduated from LSU. HUGE rivalry for us.

All SEC contender programs are rivals. But, Auburn has two primary rivals, Georgia and Alabama, and most Auburn fans would not put LSU anywhere near those two teams.

This. And I would say UGA ranks WELL below Alabama in the hierarchy of rivals. For Auburn, there is Alabama....then everyone else.

Also, the LSU/AU series is still relatively "new" in terms of the history of the SEC. Prior to '92, the two schools had only played each other 26 times over the course of 90 years. Other than maybe the "Earthquake game"...which only LSU fans care about, this matchup isn't really steeped in decades long tradition.

I thought we had a great tradition with Arkansas going when we were the only Friday afternoon game after Thanksgiving.

Its the same issue we have with all our "Rivalries", the other team already has a bigger rival.

Florida has UGA, kentucky, Tennessee and Fl St. Maybe we are above Kentucky buts thats it.

Alabama has Auburn and Tennessee. I'd say we are more important than Tenn which makes this our second or third closest actual rival.

Auburn has Bama and UGA.

Ole Miss has State.

A&M's real rival is Texas and its so heated that they aren't on speaking (or playing) terms right now. Since they have no other rivals in the SEC, this unfortunately is probably our closest actual rival. We were the last schools without a date to the dance so we are forced to dance with each other.

Recognizing this, someone invented the "Boot" trophy and tried to make Arkansas our official rival. If A&M starts beating us every other year that will be our rivalry game although there is more and more genuine hate for Florida brewing. Florida has UGA and Fla St tho...

Some people inexplicably like to only consider 1-2 teams true “rivals”

The fact is it’s 2020 not 1960. Both Auburn and Alabama are and have been our rivals for years now regardless if their’s or our fan base chooses to acknowledge it or not

This is a football rivalry, but not a cultural one. That is reserved for Bama (and Auburn).

Some LSU fans are so obsessed with who’s our rival and who’s not our rival.

I consider Auburn to be a very big rival with LSU. Lot of similarities between the two teams and we always seem to be in a battle with them in the chase to take down Bama. Equal in our dislike of Bama and on fairly equal levels in the college football universe. Don't have any special dislike of them (unlike Texas Am, Bama, and Florida). They are kind of in the same catagory of Georgia.
