Maybe low because it really isn’t a game, just a series of scrimmages that are meaningless?

Same reason I quit going to regular season games after the 2011 season...

The game means nothing. I can save time and money by watching it on TV.

PS - I didn't watch it either. The baseball double header was more appealing.

I hate the fact that I'm quoting Glenn Guilbeau, but he tweeted it best:

Its turkey season, crawfish season, and the fishing is too good right now to go watch a glorified practice

Make it a spring game against another school like ull or another state school with spring game rules... the way it is now nobody likes to see LSU score against LSU... or LSU recover a fumble Against LSU....

I purposefully stay away knowing that I will enjoy the unfailingly glowing accounts I read here better than the actual play I would watch.

like their Saturdays are so packed with social stuff

Saturdays in April are absolutely jam-packed with social occassions. It’s the busiest time of year for outdoor activities because as long as it’s not raining, the weather is generally tolerable. Just between LSU and downtown during the spring game there was: gymnastics nationals, 2 baseball games, Ebb & Flow Festival, 3rd Street Songwriters Fest, etc. not to mention that every damn church in the state has a fair this month, every town has their big festival, spring break, etc. New Orleans and BR each have a major festival practically every weekend between French Quarter Fest, BR Blues Fest, Strawberry Fest, etc. I can watch the spring game at home on a weekday. My april weekends are simply too important for practice football.

People barely show up for the real games, much less spring ball

I went maybe twice while I was a student here, have no desire to go back. They are just boring, and there is more to do, as opposed to Bama who has nothing else to do.

other teams have a 'spring game' while we have a 'spring practice'.

It's not a game if the QB's can QB both teams and players switch sides in the middle of the so-called 'game'. Not that LSU is the only school that does this but some schools have real spring games while LSU (and multiple other schools) have 'spring practice that is open for the public to watch'.

just divide up the players however you want to divide them up and then stick with it. Have real kickoffs and punts and real Alabama 'SEC refs'. Fumbles, interceptions, penalties and all plays count with no do-overs. Players can't arbitrarily switch sides in the middle of the game for any reason.

have them play for something so that it counts for something. Maybe freshman, redshirt freshman, true sophmores vs redshirt sophmores, juniors and seniors. Divide up the walkons as needed to fill out rosters but mostly along the previously mentioned lines. That would be interesting with something for the players to play for.

Its not fun. Its a spring day when there are a whole lot of other things to do, much less better things to watch, even on campus (baseball in an SEC series), and they do very little to attract attention to it. I was bored with the spring game when I was in school and it looked miserable to be at this year. Unless they change the format or work in more events around it, its definitely not worth going to.

Middle of the day when it's usually really hot. Was supposed to rain. The game itself is usually boring as crap since they don't show anything.

We had so many non-practice events going on that day on campus. Everyone can record and watch it later.
