It's because LSU is moving towards more of a RPO, spread offense and Burrow would potentially shorten the learning curve for year 1 based on his experience in a similar offense.
I think they learned in spring that implementing the offense was taking too long (hence the 35% comment) because of the QBs. If Burrow becomes the starter and quickens the implementation of the offense, it make a lot of sense...EVEN if one of the younger guys takes over at some point down the road.

Did you watch the spring game? They couldn't hit open receivers and they knew that they couldn't be tackled ... 5-7 maybe 6-6 with these QB's that we have now
