re: Why is it ok for every other team to replace starters

you don't rank a team lower because their schedule is harder. That's the craziest f****** b******* I've ever heard in my goddamn life. So because they have a hard road to get there let's put them even farther away In the rankings???? Or maybe if they have an easy schedule will put them top 5? What the hell does a schedule have to do with how good the team is? You let the season play out. Logically that makes zero sense

LSU is 122nd in the nation in returning starters. So the other 121 teams have more returning starters

I don’t think we are in a terrible spot when it comes to replacing guys.
QB will be an upgrade
WR upgrade
OL should be as good, if not better if Ingram is reinstated
I was really worried about CB but with the emergence of Joseph & Fulton being reinstated, we will be fine there
RB is the big worry, but can he masked if we are good in other areas. We aren’t terrible there, just lack the star power we usually have

RB is the one position you can platoon with pretty talented guys and succeed. The biggest thing people are ignoring is the new kicker. The kicking game last year cost us at least 2 games. IF this new kicker is as good as advertised THATS A HUGE IMPROVEMENT.

False. If you win it all people aren't going to say shite.

Agree with all the above except I'm not convinced this OL will be as good...even with Ingram, to me the worry spots are still C and RT right now. It wasn't a particuarly great line last year either, but still need to see these guys to be fully convinced. I'm a big believer in Lewis, seems like Ingram or not we wont miss a step there at all if not get much better even.

I guess LSU should be ranked 122nd. When you factor in the schedule, 160th is probably more like it.

Returning starters has to have context.
Fehoka and Giles are studs and would start this year if every starter came back. They would have started last year if eligible.
Chaisson should be considered a returning starter. He played as much as Arden did and will likely be as/if not more effective than Arden's let down of a JR year.
Phillips was the #1 MLB in the nation coming out of HS and played a ton of snaps last year.
Kary Vincent started the first game last year only to yield that role to Donte Jackson when he moved inside.
Coach O said Damien Lewis is likely the best lineman on the team. He's from a JUCO so not considered a returning starter.
This team really doesn't have a weakness of defense. Offensively the WR's are CRAZY talented but need experience and the RB's have to prove themselves. OL should be nasty in run blocking but have something to prove pass blocking.

Yeah, that’s why they make big money doing this. Because they know less than your average fan.....
Come on, now. They know less about LSU than most posters on this board. Surely you understand this, right?

the only polls that matters doesn’t debut until October yet people flip because LSU is “NR” or 25
For a team with championship aspirations, the silly polls don't matter. All that matters is winning the West, get to Atlanta, and have a shot at the playoffs.
I don't care if we're ranked 25, 18, or 13. Those are all irrelevant to a program with championship goals. As you say, the only rankings that matter are from the Playoff Selection Committee later in the year.
All this jibber-jabber about silly pre-season polls is just to generate argument. I find it exhausting.
Just win - and ignore all the noise.

FWIW you should probably check out what bamas returning starters were in 2017 and 2016.
(hint: they were lower than 100 both years)

The answer is painfully obvious.

If we make a run and even come close to a playoff, Aranda will get a head coaching job by January. So then you’ll have Orgeron trying to find a replacement. People will give credit to Aranda for getting us there this year. They will have questions about our ability to hire the best man for the job because of how the Canada situation played out. So yeah, Orgeron isn’t gaining respect until he sustains success. I posted when he was hired that if he sticks around his ultimate success will be based on how he replaces Aranda.

We're as deep as any other team in the SEC.

Some do no doubt, but others especially the polls typically do not. But the question the OP is asking schedule isn’t really an answer
ETA : please note I’m not arguing with you

Even teams situation is different. If you want to make a comparison you have to give more specifics
Let's compare us to Georgia. Georgia only returns 3 starters on defense this year, they lose their two besting running backs, and their best receiving threat. All their QB had to do last year was to not doing anything to lose them the game. Yet they are top 5 cause they had one season that they lost in the national championship game
