Mulkey was not a "hire". She was already looking for an out. And he just threw $ to make it easier to come home.

What good Coach u think you will get that won’t sign a long term contract? That’s today’s market. No big time Coach isn’t signing 4 and 5 year contracts anymore.

calls for accountability?

Did you ever watch The Office when Michael was having financial trouble and walked out of his office and said "I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY".

Try that, "I HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE".

He certainly should be held accountable. But I think some of us are also rightfully concerned who would be put in his place and who would be making that decision.

I love the "well at least he's better than the last guy" argument. No kidding, guess why they fired the last guy and hired him. Let's just hope that after they fire Woodward we will get someone who is better than him so we can say the same thing.

Serious question — in what other business would a leader ever be allowed to keep their job after making a $100 million mistake?

Well.... this industry allows for coaches and players to get paid, not actually EARN a salary.

Have you ever seen a HC have one or two mediocre seasons, then make vast improvements?? Do you think he took a pay cut those down years... no.

What AD has gotten it right 100% it the time?
And is that person available for our job?

And what person wants a job that has zero margin or error in this day and age?

Louisiana doing Louisiana things

There’s a fairly large margin between perfection and causing LSU to be responsible for 2 of the top 8 largest coaching buyouts in history

No problem. He is accountable for everything he does.

He knows how to hire coaches.

With regard to his hiring Kelly , I am not going to second guess him or say “I told you so “ because I was happy with the Kelly hire when it happened. It didn’t work out.
Iam fine with Woodward staying on.

Mark my words — the era of massive guaranteed contracts and huge buyouts in college football is coming to an end. As player compensation continues to rise, even under a future salary cap, schools won’t be able to justify these bloated deals. For once, LSU needs to be ahead of the curve.

What do the buyouts mean to you? Like at all? Did Woody call you for help? No? Woody gets big fish and requires big deals. Didn't work out, but quit acting like you are losing equity on your house because of a freaking buyout that you have nothing to do with.

Calling someone a "dummy" right before "mrs WOODWARD" is definitely a choice.

Woody ruining the football team by being a poor judge of the qualities of a successful football coach definitely affects me as a season ticket holder.

He’s shown that he is a dumbass when hiring at the highest level - football.

He’s made 4 football hires and two of them were really good hires. Sark and Peterson at UW. Everyone thought Jimbo was a good hire. It’s incredibly rare to get active coach with a Natty to leave the school where he won. Woodward’s mistake wasn’t hiring BK. It was giving him that buyout.

Is it such a leap to realize that while we have resources for buyouts, that they are finite? Perhaps Joe Blow who just paid $27 million for a freaking buyout would have possibly contributed to a roster at various times over the next several years. We need to avoid buyouts in the future. That’s the frustration.

Sark wasn’t a good hire at Washington. He was 34-29 and didn’t sniff a natty or conference championship.
