Why has the narrative around Leavitt shifted?

The guy was the #1 transfer player/QB over the spring. Now all I keep hearing are media types questioning his ability.

I haven't heard anyone questioning his ability, just wondering if he can get back to his 2024 form after Lisfranc. Regardless, I'll trust Kiffin over anyone in the media as it pertains to QB play and how Leavitt is looking.

Leavitt has consistency issues. Not saying he can’t fix that but he will make some mistakes Saturday, and then will probably be really good by midseason

just a guess here, but i'd say they're likely questioning the ability that his game translates to the SEC gauntlet. i get it, he was playing with ASU guys, but his performance at MSU wasn't that great. but, he has a new team, new staff, an offensive guru or 2, so things should line up for him, but i definitely understand holding judgment until he's played some SEC games home and away.

Yeah I guess you could be correct about that and I take that into consideration when listening to various podcasts.
Nobody has really seen any of our practices outside of individual drills so I don’t know why he went from #1 transfer player nationally to all of a sudden his ability is questioned.

"Transfer Player" means the ones available not the ones already on teams. The media is giving Trinidad Chamblis a ton of hype as the top QB in SEC.

Nothing changed except opinions. Opinions are inherently biased by specific single interest perception.
The short answer is they don't know anymore than you or anyone else. He hasn't played a game for LSU. He could be awesome, he could be not very good, or even suck.

Heard a couple people mention that he's turnover prone but the stat's just don't support that. Brooks Austin said that recently and it surprised me a bit.
However, CLK isn't one to offer up tons of praise and he's been speaking extremely highly of him so I'll roll with that

Kiffin had 3 different starting QBs at Ole Miss in 6 years. The ONLY time one of them finished outside the top 3 in the SEC in passing yards was Jaxson Dart in 2022. A guy who prior to that season had played in 6 college football games in his career. Last year's starting QB for Ole Miss had never played against a D-1 opponent. Not, just FBS, but FCS as well. He did ok.
Given that Leavitt has started over 20 P4 conference games in his career...more than any QB for Kiffin had started prior to being coached by Kiffin, I think he will be just fine.
