Why FL isn't moving. Per current track, effects to Gainesville are minimal

This is why Florida isn't budging. They don't care about how many people come to the game. They just care about the game being played in their stadium, and are hinging on Matthew not moving 50-100 miles west. One small movement puts them, and our team at risk.

That's the best forecast I've seen so far for Gainesville

The one major issue with this picture is that it's making it seem like this thing moves as a connect-the-dot thing.
Hurricanes don't exactly move like that.

It could hit the dot between Pt St Lucie and Daytona while landing briefly on Palm Bay... Obviously bringing winds closer.

It's really about resources needed to put on a game in the first place.

Bunch of selfish pricks.

I think we all know what it looks like now. The track isn't set in stone, so who's to say it doesn't shift any more? That's why most of us are thinking "why risk it".

Hope they play. Want some football saturday.

That's how Florida sees it though.

At that point in time that would be the rate of precipitation, its not a total.

The bottom picture says 2am saturday. 9 hours prior to kickoff and over a 50% chance of tropical storm force winds.

Just WOW

Lol. No.

They just don't want to play in BR 3 years in a row and it benefits them if this game isn't played.

Just changed it, there's a 66% chance of TS force winds at any point between now and 7pm Saturday

So were going to play football in the daytime with no power?

What are the coaches going to run a string and cans from the sideline to press boxes?

That's a horseshite excuse.

This is a gamble. This is looking to be a catastrophic event for the eastern part of Florida. The eye is projected to make landfall.

Gainesville looks to be far enough inland to escape the hurricane force winds.

Still think they should move the game. You don't gamble with Mother Nature.

I thought the whole argument was that it doesn't matter what the weather is like in Gainesville but the resources needed to put on a college football game when everyone on the coast will need everything available.

Team is scheduled to land in Ocala, 40 miles south, Friday at 2:00. The airline may make the decision before this is over.
