The influence he had on the Golden Band From Tigerland and how unique our songs are is my favorite Huey P contribution.
Always loved the old grainy film of him leading the students with a rousing rendition of STTDB.

All politicians are. If you can deny that with a straight face, you’re part of the problem

Well considering he died 9/10/1935, a person 83 years old would have been an infant. For anyone to actually remember him, would have to be approximately 85 years old or so now.
I don’t know how many 85 year olds we have on the Rant, but I doubt there’s not too many here logged into the site on their Jitterbug flip phone at the nursing home. Nursing homes traditionally have poor WiFi service anyhow.

This should be required reading for all Tigers. A great read.

Who built the highway to Baton Rouge?
Who put up the hospital and built you schools?
Who looks after shite-kickers like you?
The Kingfish do
Who gave a party at the Roosevelt Hotel?
And invited the whole north half of the state down there for free
The people in the city
Had their eyes bugging out
Cause everyone of you
Looked just like me
Kingfish, Kingfish
Everybody sing
Kingfish, Kingfish
Every man a king
Who took on the Standard Oil men
And whipped their arse
Just like he promised he'd do?
Ain't no Standard Oil men gonna run this state
Gonna be run by little folks like me and you

Absolutely. I have his bio on Huey P.
We should know more about our illustrious leaders who made LA what it is today, for better or worse. But in this day and age of the Twitterverse and ADD nation, most people either don't care to know or write it off as ancient history.

Amen to that. The guy was a corrupt POS. Its sad how easily manipulated people are in this state. To this day, they still cant see past his charisma.

The book was great. That T. Harry was an LSU prof is icing on the cake. Huey’s life and times was an incredible story. Many still think FDR had a hand in his demise. Who knows?
