So you want a guy that hasn’t taken an AB all year to now all of a sudden take an AB in the regionals?

You laugh but it has been done. Around the 2015 era, Virginia’s ace pitcher also raked in their lineup in the games he was not pitching in. He was a lefty but I can’t remember his name.

You’re thinking of Danny Hultzen and “raking” is being generous. He also never hit again after college.

He won’t take another meaningful at bat in his baseball career.

Caglionone is not their ace and he has had his struggles on the mound at times. He is a hitter that can pitch and they need him to pitch.

Skenes is a pitcher that can hit and LSU doesn’t need him to hit.

Did he even make it out of the 2nd inning last outing? He's been erratic at times. Skenes is more consistent and more valuable. LSU cannot afford to lose a starter to a freak injury. Also, I think UF has another season of him.

Exactly. I've said all along the only way I see him get an AB is if we are up double digits last game of Omaha, but even then, it's not happening.

Yea I had looked it up and he played around the 08-10 era. He may not have raked but he was good enough of a hitter for the Virginia coach to put him in the lineup even though he was one of their best pitchers.

Hultzen surely did it but he played in the 09 CWS vs lsu.

This guy is talking about Adam Haseley (1.8 2017 draft)

So true, Tre’ said he’s been dealing with being hit in the wrist weeks ago: Captain Morgan sail on! Can’t imagine Skenes risking that and hundreds of millions of $$ to hit bombs a few times. Come on

IF LSU makes the CWS & IF they are in an elimination game & need a RH PH to win a game, then & only then should PS be considered.

Keep in mind that would be his 1st AB all season.

Haseley wasn’t drafted as a pitcher either.

Hultzen was a really good hitter. He started a game & batted 3rd in a CWS game vs lsu in 09’

I don’t really give a shite if he hits during his pro career.

Skenes has plenty of power but he ended the fall with one of the worse batting averages on the team. It was like .227 or something like that.

Beloso, Travinski, Jobert and Jones might all be better options than Skenes at DH. If one of them gets injured we still can next man up. If we lose Skenes, we don't have much of a chance.
