They used to have the flag in the NE enzone just like the 1958. I would see it as a preteen and as teen. I have no idea when they took it down. But they did. Somebody in the athletic dept must have thought it was like Bama claiming title (which I do not).

In fact, two of those 5 split championships Bama claims, they actually lost to the team they share the championship with:
1973: Shared with Notre Dame, who beat them in the Sugar Bowl.
1978: Shared with USC, who beat them in Birmingham early in the season.

Supposedly, LSU had a couple of players on the team, “ringers” as they were known, who had previously been paid to play football professionally before they attended LSU. I guess the Tigers were 112 years ahead of the times!

The only titles that are recognized by pretty much everyone are titles in the major poll era. I like that LSU does not claim 1908.
