Why doesn’t Lane Kiffin get more grief for not making the playoffs with a loaded roster

Because it’s Lane Kiffin. He’s expected to piss away golden opportunities. He’s done it everywhere he’s ever coached.

The answer to your question is why he’s never leaving ole miss. He can fly under the radar constantly, and accountability and expectations are extremely low there.

Bc ole miss is a small market team and that's why he is a perfect fit there

Why? because the sec is the best conference in america and if that ensemble of players were in any other conference in America or wore the logo of a big10 or acc school they would get more hype and more blame. Ole miss goes 11-1 In any other conference. They will ALWAYS top out at 4th/5th best team in SEC. Student athletes are a product of their environment, and the environment in oxford will NEVER be elite. You will always have a ceiling. The inner circles who cover the team know this, and as a result, the national media treats them accordingly. just an unserious program. ole miss will always be charmin ultra soft. Everyone knows this.

With that being said, ole miss is a really fun place. The views are incredible (if you know what i mean) and the money never stops rolling in. As long as the game of football remains a physically dominant game, and doesnt turn into glorified flag football, Ole Miss will never be able to gimmick their way into legitimacy and everyone knows this. Too many distractions and it doesn't help that the coach and qb Tik Tok. Unserious program top to bottom.

Because there were no dominant teams this year. The usual suspects were all average. Parity might be the savior of this new play off system

Ole Miss has generations of low expectations. They are delighted he has them in the conversation.

I have a lot of Mississippi friends from my eight years of living in Oxford. Kiffin's drastic underperformace this year and not making the playoff (barring madness) makes this a very tough situation for Lane. It is not perfect up there either. There were some very rich donors who are not happy to shell out that kind of money in an "all-in" season with a very favorable schedule to go 9-3 and likely be out of the playoffs.

He beat Bama and we lost by 30.

You question his coaching?

Part of coaching is getting the talent and putting them in position to achieve great things. He did that.

He would be dominant at LSU or an equivalent program. Thinking otherwise it not smart

Except he didn't beat Bama.

You can't even get simple things right.

Mississippi did not play Alabama this year. They also didn't play Tennessee or Texas. Their top wins are South Carolina and Georgia. Their losses are not great either - especially a home loss to Kentucky who went 3-9 (1-7).
