The players don’t have as short of a memory as fans do. They aren’t sleeping on moo and fitz

because we were supposed to not have overlooked florida and we did it anyways, and here we come off a huge win with the biggest game of our season following the state game.

To me ...this is where a top 5 team separates itself . Big win and natural to back off - great teams dig deeper and play to new heights.

No excuse to not play great here ..

This team has proven they can play w anyone .- now the key is not to play with everyone

this is what I've been saying. We will know a lot more about the potential of this team down the stretch if they punch MSU in the mouth like they did UGA. This is not just on the coaching staff to prepare, but the team leaders.

It’s a pretty natural for any team to look over these games and we’ve played down to competition all season so it’s pretty normal to expect a game to be competitive here

It’ll be a dog fight.

Ultimately it won’t be that we overlooked Miss St.

Can the team bring the same energy they did vs UGA and Miami and Auburn.

Or will we bring Southeastern, La Tech and Florida energy and focus.

I think The bye week helpsninsulate the game from being overlooked in anticipation of Alabama.

Because, every single time you have a big win then you are guaranteed to overlook and lose the next game. That's just how it is!

On the real, it's just the easy analysis to have right now, and all of these idiot fans think they are rediscovering the wheel by stating that opinion, or they assume that just because we lost to an inferior Florida team that we will lose to an inferior Moo state team.

However, what is really going on is that our coaches and players know that they got beat by Florida just 2 weeks ago, so I would say there is just about a 0% chance that any of those players are overlooking Moo state.

Its not a matter of overlooking, our coaches and players are not idiots. They know Miss State is good and the danger of looking past them.

The reason people assume its a trap game is because its a game against a good opponent sandwiched in between games against the number 1 and 2 teams in the country. There might not be a bigger trap game in the history of LSU, I cant ever recall playing the number 1 and 2 ranked teams within four weeks of each other.

No matter what the coaches do and no matter how hard the players try, human nature is hard to overcome.

Its perfectly reasonable for people to assume LSU players will have a hard time sustaining the sort of emotion they had for Georgia and will have for Bama.

But it wont be a matter of them consciously overlooking State. If anything, the players will be consciously more aware than everything is a dangerous game for them. Its the subconscious part of the equation that's hard to control.

This. Our team has not yet proven it can play at elite levels week in and week out. Our guys have gotten amped for the "big games" and played well. But against lesser non-conference opponents and perceived inferior conference opponents (like Florida) we have come out lethargic.

Miss State is about the same as Florida. So the concern is that the team will do what the team has done all season.

I think (perhaps hope) the difference will be that the fanbase is now back on board and will be packed into Tiger Stadium delivering the energy that will help our team in this game.

As ridiculous as it sounds, this is why something like the alternate jerseys are a good thing to bring out vs. MSU. Keeping the team focused on this week isn't easy, and every little thing helps.

ETA - Particularly with the bye coming up too. Most of the players will be allowed to go home and what not over the upcoming weekend. It's just one more potential distraction you've got to handle.

Most people are short sighted. Yes the players play the games, not the fans. But those players hear other students all week taking State for granted. They see it on websites, hear it on local radio. You’d have to bury your head in the sand not to hear it or see it. It can seep in and have an effect.

Ironically, most of those here who think our fans looking past a game has no effect on our team also think the other teams fans taking us for granted adds motivation for our team.

What anyone here thinks has no impact on the game. However, when the collective thought of the masses becomes well known public sentiment, it can create the perception to these players that the game will be a little easier and that’s where the B and C game can show up.

Pretty much this. A lot of people here are predicting a big win for the Tigers, just like they did before the Florida game. I just think people are over looking them because of what we did to UGA and we have Bama coming up in a few weeks. It’s a recipe for disaster. Miss St is a good team and a lot of our team stats are very close to theirs. They are definitely capable of coming in and beating us. We, as fans, need to have the same intensity for this game as we did for UGA because if we don’t you can throw our homefield advantage out. This is a very big game and one that shouldn’t be over looked by anyone. Including the fans.

Honestly, the performances against SELU and La Tech are still in the back of folks minds they just aren't articulating it. And typically, teams coming off a huge emotional win like last Saturday don't historically replicate that energy and execution level back to back. Esp college kids.

I think we win, but I bet we see slightly more sloppiness in blocking and tackling than we did last week. And perhaps a few more mental type penalties. 19-13 LSU.

because we were supposed to not have overlooked florida and we did it anyways,

why does everyone assume this? Because we lost to Florida doesn't mean they overlooked them. We lost because we got beat up front, And made mistakes. Pure and simple. And still should've won the game. You don't overlook teams like Florida and you don't overlook teams that whipped yo arse by 30! I think some of you clowns just like saying trap game! Makes you seem like you know the hell youre talking about. A trap game would be Vandy, Ole Piss, South Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee. Not a team like Florida or now Miss State. If there is any game this should be ready for, its this one. Also, it would also help for it to be a trap game if you a had an opponent next week, but since we don't, shut the hell up about a trap game!
