re: Why does campus look so old and underfunded

Yes, they are absolutely pretending they are underfunded so they can continue to pay multiple redundant 6 figure administrators like their dean of diversity. Administrative salaries have increased 40% over the last decade while faculty payroll has been roughly flat.

I have to agree that our beloved LSU campus is deteriorating. I graduated in 1974 and many of the buildings that I had classes look terrible - broken windows and weeds growing all around them. It’s very embarrassing to bring friends to campus and see how bad it is.

Yes, I suspect diversity offends you.
Do you know what percentage of LSU's budget is represented by admin. salaries?

Lots of the funds that should go to LSU are lobbied away from other ‘higher education’ institutions that, for the most part, shouldn’t exist because they are terrible. Of course, things like Tech are fine, but I believe schools like Southeastern(?) have really low graduation rates and very little to show besides the government funding they receive.

LSU is beyond beautiful. People constantly talk about how gorgeous it is. Once they tear down middleton (Among others) and open the quad back up to it’s cross shape, that will be a huge step in beautifying campus. Also lmao at the budget issues, LSU could easily manage their budget... they choose to be wasteful and cry for more money while stealing from students with bullshite fees. And they wonder why people don’t want to give back. If the school cared about the students, the students would care about the school (after graduation when they have $$)
LSU is run by incompetent idiots, in a state full of politicians who are incompetent idiots. The schools problems will always be due to politics. Louisiana and LSU need a selfless leader who do not care about personal gain.

Have you been on Princeton's campus? It's buildings are worn out? It's better to worry about what goes on in the classrooms, lecture halls and laboratories than the outward appearance of a building.

we have a newer governor who understands growth
So when are we going to see something that resembles his supposed understanding.

Louisiana government is more interested in growing government and everything that comes with it. Power, government employed voters, benefits and early retirements for everyone in government. They don’t give two cents to actual services. The states economy mostly revolves around the Mississippi River yet bad infrastructure and a fourth of the ferries of 50 years ago. Bad streets, aging infrastructure all around but we must expand and pay government employees. It’s that simple
What is Louisiana government is controlled by the good old boy Network. Wealthy white businessmen who Lobby for ways to keep themselves rich and everyone else can suck it. I don't know why that's surprising to anyone. It's literally been that way for almost the entire history of Louisiana. Corrupt power structure using local government as their cover.

Then you’re a kook or a goof.

Because you’ve never seen our campus, that’s why

Don’t you remember with a do nothing Legislature and a constitution that requires a balanced budget yet only gives the Governor the power to cut Education and Healthcare forced him to do it?
That's a good point. I remember people complaining but none offered viable solutions.

They really need to do something with Huey P Long fieldhouse
The blown out windows on the North side of the building look awful. The place is crumbling.

The library and many other bldgs were in sorry shape in the late 80s when I was there. However, there has been a systematic and perpetual program of updates and rebuilds. Replacement of the old married dorms on Nicholson Drive, complete rebuild of the old CEBA bldg and adjacent areas.
I respectfully submit that perhaps you are submitting to and suffering from Alabama envy. Please get over it, smell the purple and gold roses, and get ready for a glorious ride to the national championship.

What buildings? Smokin' hot wimmins everywhere and you faigs are looking at buildings?
Posted on 11/29/19 at 9:42 pm to lingocowboy
It's really no secret to anyone that many buildings on campus are outdated. But if you look at the master plan that was put out two years ago you'll see that there are major renovations planned, many of which have already been completed.

Not a fan of this. Those students will leave in even larger droves than in state ones. It’s a a state university. It should cater to in state students first.
UAT tried to cater to in-state fist. Before 2003, the state of Alabama was losing its top students to out of state schools. So, new leadership at UAT decided it would design a program to attract out of state scholars.
Easy program: If you are a National Merit Finalist, you get a 5 year full tuition, plus first year housings and supplement in other years, plus a stipend and a bunch of other perks.
No gpa to prove. No ACT to worry about. No matter your skin color or gender. Finalist and done
Semi-Finalist got a nice package also.

LSU is nice. They have done a lot over the years.
Bama has elevated because of football. And their enrollment is way up.
I have also been to a lot of campuses, we are lucky to have LSU.
