Not so much a tax issue but the lack of alumni support and lack of legislative support vs other state schools.

I took one of my kids to visit U of Ala among many other SEC schools, and LSU may have old buildings, but the beauty of the place absolutely stands out. Red tile roofs, live oaks, sweet olive trees that smell incredible in the fall and spring, Magnolias - it’s classic architecture vs McMansion type stuff. I think Alabama in particular lost some of the charm it had in the ‘80’s when it was a smaller campus.

Most campuses look old because they are old and could use some TLC.

This to a very large extent.

Alabama courts out of state students and has been extremely successful

Not a fan of this. Those students will leave in even larger droves than in state ones. It’s a a state university. It should cater to in state students first.

Though I’ve commented on the political two step we are constantly battling, the campus is a beautiful campus

Attempting growth by driving industry and highly skilled work force out of the state and maintaining the classic Louisiana status quo of squandering tax dollars... bold strategy, let’s see how it works out.

Might be shiny and new, but it's a cheaply built piece of shite.

LSU is the only SEC school that raises more money for athletics than academics. Endowment growth over the past decade is better than only Ole Miss.

I would never, ever bring my kid to visit Alabama. They wouldn’t even want to visit. They know better. They wouldn’t accept a scholarship from Alabama. I raised them right.

Your not understanding the contexts of what I am trying to get across, I knew 2 board members at the time and Bobby would not let LSU buy the land to expand at all.

At the time LSU was growing and Bobby stopped a very effective plan to push to city park and I-10 allowing LSU to change to a more modern University. The plan called for mnay quads and parking lots, plus area to build larger departments.

Bobby kicked one of my friends off the board due to this and other run ins.

Actually there is charm to be found in it rather than bright and shiny. Think of historic districts.

Alabama campus is antiseptic. It’s very cold and sterile. No charm whatsoever.

I’m guessing you like eating at Panera Bread and Roadhouse.
