re: Why do you think that Miles has such great success against Alabama and Saban?

This is why. Miles isn't a better coach than Saban, but he does have equal talent at his disposal. I can't think of a single person who has ever questioned LSU's talent level; it's our coaching that has been suspect at times.

Not on offense these days. We may have a more talented group of RBs, but they dominate us at QB, WR and OL.

I would call 5-3 versus Alabama great success. I would call 3-3 versus Saban great success because Saban has lost 1/2 the time to Miles. While Saban has won 2 out of the last BCS championships, Miles has beaten him 2 out of the last 3 times they have played...I call that great success.

True, but that's because Les got the talent to come here. He recruits as well as Saban, and has beat him half the time. As much as people deify Saban, I'd call hanging with the grumpy midget a great success.

I think if both coaches remain with each school the record will swing to favor Saban

I think that if both coaches remain at the same schools that the record will continue to swing to Miles - last 3 games - Miles is 2-1. He is on a roll against Saban. I'm just looking at the trend line.

We were an equally talented team in 2010 that had to play a near perfect game to win.
That game was nowhere near perfect.

Doesn't a part of college coaching involve recruiting? Last time I looked, the coach makes all of the recruiting decisions in college. So if LSU has good talent and Miles is responsible for that "great talent," shouldn't he be labeled a great coach for that reason alone? Mack Brown is a great recruiter (at least according to recruiting services), but he has not been able to get his players to play up to their perceived level of talent. I think saying Miles has great talent, but is not a good field coach, is not giving Miles any credit at all for the performance on the field by his players.

Firstly, Saban wasn't at BAMA until 07 and Miles could beat up on a team in disarray. From there, Miles has been fortunate have Chavis around to take up the slack. Now, the lack of execution on Offense is so big that the D will have trouble trying to compensate.

Physical football at the line of scrimmage.

Bama is odds on favorite to win their 3rd title in 4 years. Which coach is better?

Because the plan to beat Alabama is simple, be succesful running the ball and keep their defense on the field. This is type of team that Miles wants because it's capable of beating Alabama

Because Miles is not a practical coach. You can't ever predict what he's gonna do. If so he'd be easy to coach against. His success may not be pretty but it wins games and you can't deny the end result.

I don't know which coach is better, but the stat line says, for now, at least they are equal. We shall see after Saturday night in Death Valley.

3-3 isn't great success. That means he wins 50% of the time.
So with your backhanded comment, what's that say about Saban?

6 years in and it hasn't. If Saban was impeccable like all of you treat him, then it would be 5-1, 4-2

A: Because CLM is unconventional & unpredictable as a FB coach?

welcome to college football.
you must not be aware that no other coach in the country approaches .500 vs saban (and meyer for that fact) with as many meetings btwn them. it means miles goes punch for punch with the "best" coaches in coll fb b/c he is one of them.

I fricking loathe transparently disingenuous posts like this. Did we have "tremendous success" against Bama last time we took the field against them with a national championship and undefeated season on the line?
There is nothing wrong with rooting for the Tigers or being optimistic about our chances in Tiger Stadium Saturday night. I'm certainly not living in fear of Bama. But this "tremendous success" line is bullshite. It implies we have had more success than them when we clearly haven't of late. Would you trade places with Bama over the last three years? Just answer that question honestly. Of course you would. It would better to have two NC's rather than zero, one undefeated season rather than zero, and to be undefeated this season rather than having one loss.
