Why do we get suckered on these big name openers?

How many times do we schedule a big name team for an opener then that team goes out and signs up a scrimmage team for the week before? Makes a huge difference in prep. Puts us at a disadvantage every time.

I think it benefits LSU, to be honest. I like the idea of having a full game of tape/film on the opponent. We just suck.

Obviously didn't benefit them enough

Cause we’re LSU, and we should play in big named non conference games

It benefits the opponent to get a full game in to work on issues before the next game.

It never benefits the team not playing when it’s nearly two similar teams matching up in the big kickoff game.

I agree I don't know why we keep doing this. Would have been a lot better work out these issues against a Southern or SLU in a warm up scrimmage game. I don't see Nabors dropping a kickoff and a punt or Dellinger snap in the ball over the QB's head with a warm-up game under the belt. Also wouldn't have taken three quarters to get the offense on track, also could have worked out the Special Teams blocking issues. Either both teams need to come in with a practice game under their belts or it being both teams true opener

That FSU would finish last in the SEC West

I guess if you say it enough ppl will just believe it. Doesn’t make it true however.

Because when we have a season where we only play lower OOC teams our fan base cries that we don’t play good games.

This is the admin’s response.

Maybe, probably not though. I do know they kicked the shite out of Duquesne St in a warm up practice game while we came in cold. We had to try to work out our issues during the game while they got to work them out last week.

Film of the other team doesn't matter if your own team isn't ready to execute its own game plan.

Funny we didn’t say any of that after beating Oregon under Miles

We should make it part of the contract that neither team can schedule a tune up. Simple fix.

And they just beat us. What’s your point, exactly?

And I mean LSU used to be good / these games were scheduled when LSU was good. Im sure it will go away soon and LSU will be playing bottom feeders to tune up. Wont be for a while though.

It obviously hasn’t benefited us the last two years losing to two mediocre programs in week 1 that were allowed a tune up. Having a game under your belt is much more beneficial than game film on the opponent. Watch how much more crisp we’ll be this weekend despite playing an overmatched opponent.

Teams that have games on Week O gain a week of practice. Is that not correct?

The numbers show it’s an advantage to have the film not play the week 0 game. The team that plays the week 0 game wins 40% of the time. So LSU technically had the advantage and still lost.
