I'll try to answer you logically.

When he was hired in 2016 he was FAR from the majority of fans first choice. The guy had been a lifelong position coach and his only stint as a HC was not good. In 2017 and 2018 he posted two good, but not great season relative to the success of the guy he replaced.

Then, in 2019, he and his team put together probably the best season in LSU history and maybe one of the best in CFB history. Even the lukewarm fans had to give O the respect he earned.

Then, he follows it up with two very head-scratching coordinator hires, ultimately helping contribute to arguably the worst LSU season in two decades. With the worst defensive performance...maybe ever. Miles's tenure was very good, but by the end it was clear that he had plateaued. Ed had brought LSU emphatically back to the top of the mountain and every fan was hoping that was going to be where LSU stayed (along with the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St, Oklahoma, all perennial playoff contenders). He lost almost all of the goodwill earned in 2019 last season.

Knowing that changes to the staff (particularly the DC) HAD to happen Ed himself went on the radio and said they felt really good about getting Freeman...until they didn't. They felt strongly about getting their second choice...until they didn't. Now, LSU looks to be on the verge of hiring a guy with little name recognition and seemingly little demand as a DC to "fix" LSU completely unexpected collapse from greatness last season. I think the fans are looking on from the outside and thinking "what in the hell is going on?" How did LSU go from the "greatest team ever"...to having one of the worst defenses in America and having to pull a big upset just to finish .500 the next season...to a month long search for arguably the second highest paid coach on the team that (may) end with the hiring of a guy no one has really ever heard of?

The new DC may turn out to be GREAT and LSU may return to the NC game next year. Who knows?! But it certainly looks like they are just flying by the seat of their pants rather than executing a well thought out plan.

Because they didn’t want him hired and have confirmation bias to prove they were right...2018 and 19 threw a big wrench in that.

Because some of them hated the Coach O hire from the beginning and have never stopped wanting to be right.

Given the LSU coaching model, Coach O is suppose to be the rock that holds it all together. If he is truly hiring the best coordinators, they will come and go pretty quickly. It's Coach O's job to hold the program together year after year. A CEO, if you will.

In his first real test of doing that after 2019, he absolutely failed. Given how fluid college football is these days, you need consistency. And if you take a look at Coach O's performance over his career, it has been anything but consistent.

The dude let pics of him in bed with his side piece leak. That's just a bad look. He won the title and it appears he went all Ole Miss mode.

In 2021, this is a really weird reason to hate someone.

It’s a bit of an unprecedented situation and we still finished 5-5 versus an all-Sec schedule.

I don't think anybody is actually rooting against him, but it would sure be nice if he would make at least what appears to be on paper more intelligent decisions.

We had a whole number of much more qualified people available to choose from, and for some reason more often than not, seem to end up with the most unqualified coach available, who was on nobody's list as a good hire.

This hire was out of left field and does not have a very high probability of success compared to who was out there to choose from.

I don't hate O but he won the title and went on a bender and the optics just don't look good.

Do you think that is the reason posters shite on him though?

2019 earned him a lot of capital, but he spent a lot with the DC hire last year. He has a lot of capital on the table with this year's hires too.

To me he's slowly trending upward. He got 20 of 22 back from last years team. But we just have to wait and see how that first game goes.

I'm definitely not rooting against him, but he does deserve the criticism because he's only brought it upon himself. He needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut, especially with how can candid he is with the media.

I agree. But I do think the biggest problem is our fans want (not a bad thing) bama type of success and expect (not a good thing) that success to be immediate and without any bumps in the road.

Then you anti-O baws will be bitchin' an pissin' an moanin' because he's not transparent.

Some people believe that being constantly negative somehow makes them smarter. It doesn't.

People want saban’s results without accepting that’s not realistic for anyone. What he’s doing is not being done by anyone else, especially not in the SEC

I just don't remember Les receving so much negativity maybe at the beginning and end of his term but nothing like the constant bashing O receives from us.
You don’t have a very good memory.
