If LSU gets blown out by Alabama again it will matter. Nobody would want to see that again in a playoff game.

if we curb stomp bama they might not make the playoff. a huge if but that's how it would matter.

I just don’t see how LSU could recover from a loss to Alabama. It’s not like we could exactly rehabilitate ourselves with the likes of Arkansas and A&M. If we lose, I think we’re out.

Both teams will be in the playoffs as long as they remain undefeated the rest of the way. However, that is dependent upon Baylor losing. Which is probable, as they still have to play Oklahoma, TCU, and Texas. So unless a miracle happens, both the winner and the loser in this upcoming game makes the playoffs. Cause what 11 & 1 team will have a better resume than either Alabama or LSU? Uhm...no one.

If Bama loses to UGA or FL in SEC Championship, it will matter.

No, the narrative would be that Tua didn’t play or wasn’t 100%.

Seriously? Lsu would have played 4 top ten teams going 3-1. OU would have lost to an unranked team and no too 10 games.

Maybe not. But there will be some 12-1 conference champs that will. Especially if Bama is the loser of the game on 11/9. Their best win would be an at-best 3-loss Auburn. 12-1 conference champs Oregon and Oklahoma are getting in over 11-1 Bama and probably 11-1 LSU as well. The November 9th outcome most certainly matters.

Win or go home.

A one-loss Oregon that wins the pac-12 gets in over LSU.

It matters. We can all try to downplay it or not accept it, but we NEED to beat Bama. End of story.

This.

The only way LSU gets in with a loss over a 1 loss OU is if they are ready to expand the CFP so they use that to piss off the rest of the country the same way they gave Alabama the mulligan in 11 to kill the BCS.

Now if OU loses again that’s a different story. But no way we get in over a Big 12 Champ OU unless it’s expansion time.

The media would make excuses for Tua not being at full strength.

11-1? Probably no one, 12-1 conference champ? All of them.

But it has to be a close game. No blow out.

Because it won't.

If LSU loses, they are out of the CFP.

If Bama loses, they are in.

If LSU wins, they likely play Bama again.

If Bama wins, they know they finished LSU's chances.

The only thing that "matters" in this game is that LSU, in essence, is playing again for the right to rematch a team they beat on their home field, if they win. But they only get the rematch if they win an extra game.

It only won’t matter if we win. If we lose, it absolutely will
