If preparing for a triple option offense run by inferior athletes was so time-consuming and difficult, every team would would feature a triple option package run by their scout team.
The fact is that triple option isn’t black magic. You defend it the same way you defend any other running game. Push around the blockers, fill gaps and tackle.
Football isn’t calculus.

At the end of the day, you act like GSU is some elite team. We've beat this horse dead and then beat it some more. Like on every thread, there's no overlooking any team. Last time we did we lost to Troy. How much worse of a team do you want to schedule because people like you will either make threads like this or complain about LSU scheduling a home game against an even easier team. I'm frankly not interested in watching LSU's third team offense skull drag some division III school youve never heard of like San Marco Valley State in one of the few home games we have a year.

It requires very good lane and assignment discipline. So it is good practice for the defense in general.

You know, you say this, but I'm going to jump in here now.
THIS IS SOMEONE'S JOB to get right. And they didn't. PERIOD.
In this highly competitive age of football and as much money that is up for grabs, it's important that they get scheduling right. LSU absolutely should have a warm up game that is going to help them prepare for the SEC. Scheduling should be strategic and a lot of thought put into it.
Yes, there are only so many parts of it that you can control.... BUT CONTROL THEM. Every little thing matters.
So every P5 team that schedules a triple option opponent is scheduling incorrectly and/or non-strategically? Am I accurately describing your position?

1. Clemson played them last year.
2. We shouldn't be looking ahead a week. Ever.
3. Texas isn't some novel offense either. Its got similar elements to all the more modern Urbanite offenses.

taking away from Texas prep, on which is what we should have already been focusing.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is the mentality that gets you beat by Troy....

Because we couldn't find any quadruple option teams.

Any LSU player, coach or fan who overlooked Troy needs some education as to modern LSU football history.
It wasn’t that long ago that Troy came into Tiger Stadium with a 4-wide, short-passing, spread offense and bewildered our defense, going into halftime up 31-3.
I’m not sure I’ve ever been so mad after a win as I was after that game. Even though we came back and won handily, it still felt like a loss.
One needs look no further than our previous meeting (before the loss) to know that Troy can hang with and beat LSU if not taken seriously.
I hope we blow the doors off of GSU.

lol - We haven't been preparing for GS all summer. There is a very well laid out and clearly defined (weekly) process to prepare for each opponent.

What???? Are you scared?????
Posted on 8/28/19 at 12:40 pm to ForeverEllisHugh
Look in a perfect world we would play a team that has the same exact scheme as Texas, I get it.
However, we have had all summer to prep for Texas. A two or three week prep for our first game doesn't negate all of that work.
C'mon duuuude.

Texas and Florida are going to use the option against us. Florida did it last year.

Well we will learn a lot about Texas after they play La Tech.

I can’t think of any any P5 school would willingly play a team like this
2012 - Georgia
2013 - Florida (they beat Muschamp)
2014 - Georgia Tech
2015 - West Virginia & Georgia
2016 - Georgia Tech & Ole Piss
2017 - Auburn
2018 - Clemson

I thought Clemson was P5 last year?
In fact, they’ve played a team from the ACC, Big Ten, or SEC every year since entering the FBS, usually 2. Even in the FCS they did the same going back to at least 2011.
These things are pretty easy to look up.

Whom else does LSU play that has a QB that is capable of running when things breakdown and you need a defense that needs to practice disciple before a big time matchup. I know, playing a triple option team where the QB can run it’s a good practice against a RPO. Your front 7 gets an entire game in being discipled which rolls over to the next game. This makes much more sense. Most people only have a piece of the puzzle not the entire puzzle. The CEO and staff have the entire puzzle where we only have a piece or two.

From May 2013.
Georgia Southern is also slated to visit LSU on Sept. 13, 2014. But due to the addition of Navy and possibly Georgia Tech and NC State, there is speculation that the LSU game will be moved to the 2015 season.
The below is from spring of 2014.
The LSU Tigers have made several changes to their future football schedules over the past few months, including the postponement of two home-and-home series and date changes for other games.
2017
•09/02 – Georgia Southern
•09/09 – NC State
•09/30 – Troy
LSU will pay guarantees of $508,000 to Georgia Southern and $985,000 to Troy. The Georgia Southern game was initially scheduled for Sept. 13, 2014.
From Feb 2016
LSU-Georgia Southern Date Set
LSU was previously slated to host Georgia Southern on Sept. 13, 2014, but the game was later pushed back to Sept. 2, 2017. After LSU scheduled BYU for the 2017 season, the game was pushed back for a second time and has now landed on Aug. 31, 2019.
The contract to play this game was signed before Georgia Southern moved up to FBS. Reports are that LSU is paying Georgia Southern 925k for the game.
