LSU hasn’t played in the Gator Bowl against Clemson. We haven’t played in the Gator since 1987, 37 years ago by game day

They got Oregon playing Liberty because they certainly did not want LSU blowing out Oregon after Texas destroys Washington.

It would lay bare how rediculous the polls are and expose the money behind the travesty.

You lose to Indiana you should not be in a bowl, much less a New Year's Day bowl.

It's about butts in seats and viewership, also sometimes, luck. I read about 3 eligible bowls wanting Notre Dame when FSU fell to the NY6, so the ACC put the names in hat, shook it up, and the Sun Bowl was the winner... I'm being serious.

I don't buy it.

If WI has their starter vs Iowa, good chance they are both 8-4

Ranked with fewer losses, and a win over Wisconsin doesn't make Iowa a better draw than Wisconsin?

Correct

Well they have no control over that.

Well I hope somebody's got control over it.

They’re not gonna go to a lower bowl just for a ranked matchup.

That doesn't make sense. Send Wisky to the lower bowl. Their fans thought they were going to Music City any way.

Even Clemson would've been a better game.

F-it, at least after this year shite will be different and we won't have to play B1G scrubs anymore.

Gator Bowl vs #22 Clemson

I'm in Jax and would have loved this matchup. We usually go to all the LSU games in florida but this matchup against Wisc is not making me want to go. If Daniels plays then we may go but if he opts out 100% not spending $$ money to watch backups.

LSU was placed in Tampa because LSU played in Orlando for last year’s Citrus and this year’s opener. Bowls are about tickets sold and tourism, too. Selling LSU fans on a third football trip to Orlando in 365 days is tough.

Tampa gives you a Saints/LSU doubleheader on back-to-back days, if you’re inclined, though the Saints aren’t worth watching right now.

That answers half of the question. Now... why is LSU playing fricking Wisconsin?

Who else would you prefer from Big 10?

Maryland? Northwestern?

Iowa's record this year was a statistical anomaly. They also beat Wisconsin while Wisconsin's starting QB was hurt

I see you're using playoff committee logic

From last year -
Gator Bowl payout: $5.35M

Texas Bowl payout: $6.4M
ReliaQuest Bowl payout: $6.4M

Citrus Bowl payout: $8.2M

If you want to complain about game times, we’re playing in 1 of 2 bowl games on NYD that’s not a CFP or NY6 bowl.

As opposed to 11AM on Friday 12/29 or 8PM on a Wednesday 12/27

This may marginally increase bowl ticket sales, but not by much. LSU is gonna struggle to sell tickets to an 11:00 AM game against an opponent that nobody cares about. We did not travel well last year to the Citrus Bowl or to the Texas Bowl the year before.

The bowl committee knows that, I honestly think it was always Tampa for LSU. The only thing that would've changed would've been the opponent.
