Reminds me of when chip Kelly after the 2011 game said the athletes are different down here.
Chip Kelly was referencing our ridiculously fast behemoths across our defense. He was talking physical...not mental.

True lots of tough people in the country there who are loggers
Baseballs a funny game, you can lose 5 plus games in a row, adjust your roster and can be on a huge win streak afterwards. That’s not always the case with football or sometimes basketball

Oregon st, ucla, usc, arizona, Fresno, acal st fullerton have all won national championships. Hell, arkansas, a team full of southern boys choked one away to oregon st. And as OMT pointed out, thompson had the game winning rbi last night. Its flawed logic

Lol. He meant that there’s more black people down south.
He said that after Mingo ran down Thomas from behind. Oregon snapped the ball, Thomas went left, Mingo was on the opposite side of the line. Mingo ran him down. I believe Kelly called them Swamp Monsters.

Oregon st,
Their rise as a college baseball power baffles me. Pat Casey did a super job there.

If this were a thing, teams from the upper midwest would win all close games.

If you are from “the south”, this is the kind of quote your hear and just smile.

I think this is where LSU’s status as a traditional baseball power helps. There is institutional history with this sort of thing. It’s been done before. The players have seen it. They know that a LSU team can get it done, even in the most difficult situation.
Oregon as a team did not even exist until recently. They have yet to make that leap.
A very talented team can overcome all of that and buck the system. But all things being equal, a team with a model and a visible path has an advantage. I think we saw that last night. Pressure manifests in little mistakes like balking in a critical run, for example.

That’s just dumb. That kid that hit the 2-r HR pissed off LSU with his theatrics. That’s what happened. The funny thing is LSU uncharacteristically seemed to remain calm.
They fuel off of emotion.

That Oregon group was a tough out. They responded every time they needed to. There were 5 lead changes in that game and those guys do not make many errors fielding and throwing to first base. They were great on Defense and had some great hits as they outhit us 14-10!

The SEC schedule pays dividends in the postseason. We’ll never run into anyone more battle tested than our guys.

My theory is that the reason why they out-hit us 14 to 10 is because those Oregon baws have all that lumberjack experience chopping logs, wearing high heels, suspenders and a bra. On Fridays, they go shopping, along with dear Maw Maw.

Kudos to you sir. Not many will get the reference.
Well played.

it’s because they tried to pick a guy off who hasn’t stolen a base like 100x in one inning and low and behold one went wrong. Dumb dumb move on their part.
Not trying to crash the party, but the pick off throws had nothing to do with Beloso

quote:Correct. And it is true. I dont buy that the kids are different or tougher. Hell, both looked equally matched. But playing in the SEC you do learn to take chances (Dugas to home on ball to 1st), go for plays (Bianca laying out for the catch), and stay focused while in tough games. It makes you a better competitor. But it has nothing or little to do with how they are brought up as kids.
Lol. He meant that there’s more black people down south.

Yeah, you could tell the lights were a little too bright for some of them. In the 4th, after Bianco stole second (and it went to replay), he told the pitcher, "That's the definition of insanity" when he immediately tried to pick Drew off on the next pitch. The pitcher then proceeded to throw 2 straight wild pitches, allowing Drew to score. He'd clearly gotten inside of the pitcher's head with that comment.

All of my son’s coaches ask me why/how he busts his arse so much in practice...I just say it’s the years of me screaming at him on the way home. If I’m giving up 3.5 hours of my time three times a week to take you to practice, your little arse is going to hear it from me if you put out shite effort. I think he just started to enjoy it more when he’d go balls out the whole time, so it stuck. Or he got tired of hearing me bitch for the 30 minute ride home. Either way,, you’re not going to outwork him at practice.
