They just raise their kids to be tougher in the south compared to the west coast where kids are often coddled.
travel ball kids are some of the most coddled on planet Earth. But they also have to work their butt off at the higher levels to contribute. It's a weird dynamic.

That could have been a very hostile environment like Oregon St was a few years ago.

Fan support is non existent for PAC 12 baseball.
LSU dominated in fan support back when they played at UCLA

Track and field will be packed this weekend though in Eugene
It's just different out there.

Doesn't Eugene always host the outdoor track and field championships? It's kind of their college world series event to host.

Some are. I heard a boy yesterday talking about how great his team was, he was 14 and I had never heard of them. Looked it up and he plays on a AA team with a .500 record. I really wanted to tell him to check back with me when he sees a 12 yo throwing 75 off of a legit Majors team. But, it will all sort itself out in a few years. I have a feeling he will not adjust well. But maybe I am wrong.

Kids either learn to compete, fail, improve, compete, fail, improve or they dont. Hopefully the adults around them give them space to fail and the support they need to improve as game speed increases. If that happens you do end up with a young man that wont shrink away from making the big play when it is a close game.

I recall an OpEd some years ago comparing athletics in warm weather states vs those which have harsh or lengthy winters. Per the article there were more competitive teams in the South due to the ability to be able to practice year round. Maybe the thousands of hours more perfecting skills also helps aid mental toughness and confidence in various situations.

but I believe that’s one of the reason the south dominates sports.

Or it might just be we have more black people.

He could have saved a lot of time and just said they’re liberal pussies so of course we smoked them.

That is why I was confused with Ben's "LSU is gassed" comments Sunday. Those kids played on successful travel ball teams and are used to being at the park all day and playing multiple games. If anything they were in a normal environment.

I don’t necessarily disagree. But I don’t think the gap is as big as this Oregon fan thinks. Maybe it has more to do with the Oregon just not finding the dudes it takes. Take Stanford, or Cal Sate Fullerton, those programs have historically been able to pull off the ugly wins against the southern powerhouses because they can find those west coast kids with some grit.
