It was one game. Let's see what happens.

It's amazing that running out of the one back sets can open up lanes. Spread them out, get them out of the box. That has been the problem for so long.

FWIW, we faced 8+ man boxes more often against the single-back set (not counting shotgun formation) than we did against the I-formation.

Played with more energy, executed better, did some different things out of the same formations, and Mizzou's defense is pretty awful.

They stacked the box most of the game and we still gashed them. That 'aint happening next week at Florida.

Mizzou's defense is not very good. Let's wait until after we've played an SEC caliber defense before we annoint the offense.

Bad, like worst defense we've ever faced in the SEC in over 12 years? We set a record on Saturday.

The fans were right. Les was wrong.

But Rickdaddy, Beefense, and Gray Tiger told me that the only people capable of coming up with a good solution to the offensive problems were "coaches who get paid millions of dollars" not "fans who don't know anything about the game."

My entire worldview has been destroyed.

Said fullback John David Moore: "It's exponentially easier to run the ball (when you are spread). When they don't know if it's run or pass and they've been burnt a few times, they've got to respect both. When you don't know if we're going to run it, and we come downhill at you, it's hard to stop.

"It forces them to respect the personnel we're in, but then you run another play out of it. It's pretty smart."

What's amazing is our players and coaches talking about simple things like this like we've discovered this new thing about offensive football that no one else has caught onto.

"Coach O told us that we're going to watch film on the opponent!"

"We intend to run multiple plays out of our sets to be less predictable!"

"If we throw early and spread people out, opponents will have to guess what we might do!"

It is unbelievable when you stop and think about it.

Because Mizzou had no game films from O to study or prepare. The next few games will not be easy like that since other teams will have LSU game films to study.

It really, really bothers me that the players seem truly astounded at concepts and philosophies that are common among 99% of college teams.

More three-four wr sets, multiple personnel groupings, and more passes called on running downs. That sums up most of it.

Yeah that may be, but I can guarantee miles would not have scored over 21 points.

because Miles wasnt there to micro manage every aspect of the offense....notice how seamlessly the plays came in, no wasted time outs....notice how much better the line blocked....notice the number of new players that contributed that know one had seen all year....notice how you didnt see Les Miles on the sidelines over riding every play call

Did you notice how many times the reciever came in motion across the field during the game. It makes those linebackers hesitate, which is all our running backs need.

With CLM, the only time the reciever came is motion is when he got the ball.

Neither was JacSt, Miss St or Auburn. you can't deny it was much better on Saturday. We will get a better picture after Saturday but the improvement was very welcomed.
