That terrible defense held Nick Chubb to 63 yards rushing and 3.3 upcoming.

I'm not saying they're world beaters but let's not pretend that they haven't had success stopping the run this year.

And we just gashed them for more than 400yds on the ground

Because Miles and Cam were literally calling garbage.

..because CEO didn't meddle in the offensive game planning/play calling.

Orgeron is using Pete Carroll's approach to football

Monday is truth telling day, Tuesday is earn your position, etc.

It boils down to they simplified it and the play calling was much better. I also liked rotating guys in there and keeping everyone fresh. We have a ridiculous amount of talent at skill positions and have for years as you can see by looking at NFL rosters. Get everyone involved.

I think Cameron was trying to run an NFL offense that was just too complex. College kids just a couple years removed from high school shouldn't be expected to be experts at running things the way 30 yr olds do.
Pro-style offense is great, I like it and don't think we need to have Oregon's offense to be effective. But there's a difference between college and NFL pro style and Cam didn't seem to get that.

That said, Mizzou doesn't have a great D either which helped. I'm optimistic, but if we look similar against Florida THEN I'll really be optimistic about it

Because it doesn't have Less/Cam in it.

I was a smoother operation, it seemed calls arrived to the field earlier. Not as much rushing just getting the ball snapped in time. Etling did some checking on the line also. This will be a tougher challenge on the road.

What do you think were the main differences and reasons for so much success?

Many more players are handling the ball. That really helps morale.

Biggest reason is because miles wasn't given a headset Saturday night...
Next biggest reason is because CEO is a defensive coach and lets his assistants do their job...

Neither was JacSt, Miss St or Auburn. you can't deny it was much better on

Jacksonville State- no stats avaiable on ESPN
Miss State: 19th in overall defense, gives up 356 yds/game
Auburn: 59th in overall defense, gives up 358 yds/game
Mizzou: 92nd in overall defense, gives up 421 yds/game

FBS defensive stats

None of those defense are as bad as Mizzou's.

I'm not denying. I was down right ecstatic with what I saw on sat, but I'll need to see a trend develop before I jump on the Coach O done fixed the offense bandwagon. If we have a decent offense vs Florida on saturday then I'll grab a bottle of water for Coach O and jump on the bandwagon.

Easier quick throw and better.... finally using plays to setup the next play. Throw in a little fake/misdirection.

And some luck with bad mizz rv play early on.

In the heat of the moment while watching the game, it looked like the OL still struggled, but they only gave up 1 sack, 2 TFL, and 1 QB hurry vs Mizzou. They allowed 4 sack, 8TFL, and 7 Qb hurries vs Auburn. Maybe spending more time in the film room and less time on the practice field helped the OL pick up the defense's schemes, or maybe it was because Mizzou's defense is 92nd. We'll find out saturday though.

Didn't we have over 600 total offense in the bowl game?

Etling was 19/30 for 219. Let's see what happens in the next couple of months. We were #2 in the country and LF7 was putting up weeks like we did last week all year.

I'd hold off on saying it's fixed against a terrible defense

Missouri was middle of the road once you remove the LSU game from their numbers, but anyone who thinks they are good is wrong. They gave up 400+ to WVU, Eastern Michigan, and UGA.

Bad tackling, players always out of position.

Only thing we really did different was run slant patterns on passing plays. There just wasn't enough time to make real changes.

Plus the results aren't THAT different. We hung 34+ on five teams last year. Miles got on the hot seat because of the three-game losing streak in November.

I'm going to keep the Kool Aid on the shelf until we play the serious opponents after Halloween. 3-1 or better, I'm buying. 2-2 or worse, I'm selling.
