Yes. You’re mentioning the highlights, but there were also some issues with Miles that anyone who was watching objectively could already see. I say this loving me some Les, but— without hindsight— I’d have gladly sent him packing to get Saban back at that moment.
This is the best example of revisionist history and hindsight is 20/20 that I’ve ever seen.
It would have been seen as one of the most ridiculous and retarded moves ever at the time.

3 yd and a cloud of dust would have resulted in first downs assuming you go for it on 4th down every time :-). With Les it was more first down run no gain, second down run one yard gain. Third and nine incomplete pass, punt, rely on your defense.
The two interceptions that Jarrett Lee threw at Bama broke Les. He never called a game the same after that. Pulled him for Jordan Jefferson .At the time Jarrett was the highest rated quarterback in the SEC and he never saw another meaningful snap in his career.

Judging history through the lense of hindsight is great isn't it?

LSU has been an average SEC program for the last 14 seasons.

minus the 2019 anomaly goat season.
Question: how many other SEC programs even have an appearance in a national title game in that period?
How many even have an SEC Championship appearance?
I don't really want to dig into SEC win/loss records for that time, but I will if you keep driveling stupid shite.

I completely agree with this statement . . . but you didn't need hindsight to realize that Miles was not the best coach available to run our program. I'll admit he sustained way longer than I thought he would and had a winning percentage higher than I thought he would. So in hindsight I was wrong, but I was never on the Mikes bandwagon.
I never had faith in him. I didn't like the fact that he was blown out in his bowl game right before we hired him and that it felt like Skip settled rather than waiting another week on Del Rio.
My biggest problem with Miles was that although he won the vast majority of his games it seemed like we won them despite him not because of him. It felt like the vast majority of his wins could have just as easily been a loss. Of course you could easily say the same about some of our losses. Other than 2011 we seemed to lose that dominant edge and as a result always played down to our opponent.

#1 sign of an entitled fan is when every season is a total failure if it doesn’t result in a national championship.
Ok, Brian kelly.

How drunk are you right now? Have your husband take your phone away before you further embarrass yourself.

Well the fact a guy just didn’t even seem to fight hard to keep a prime lsu Saban in town is disappointing.. he was just like “yeah that’s a hell of an offer you got from Miami. Just something you can’t turn down” instead of fighting to keep him. Wanted to remain the big man I guess.

I think Nick Saban would agree with me actually. You can accomplish things and have a good season without winning a national championship. It’s not a complete and total failure if you don’t. All good coaches will agree with that.

Again its revisionist history . . . Honest question, I see you started your account in 2020, how old were you in 2004?
I ask because you seem to forget or are unaware that he was already the highest paid Coach in college football getting paid $2.3MM which was 2 to 3 times what other good coaches were getting paid and the Dolphins were doubling that salary. Plus Saban had flirted with the NFL the previous two or three years before that.
There are many at the time that felt LSU was more responsible for making Saban a great coach than Saban was for making LSU a great football program. Obviously, this was wrong but the sentiment was there especially with what kind of felt like a let down year coming off of a NC season.
quote:
Saban had the nation's richest college football contract, a seven-year, $18.45 million deal he signed after winning a share of the national title in 2003.

You do you, I guess. But if we’re asking questions about the football gods, ask why they didn’t allow LSU to swallow some pride and approach Saban about coming back when there was so much noise around him flirting with Alabama? LSU bungled that situation.
Les had just finished a 11-2 season where we were probably the best team in the country by the time we played ND and crushed them. And 11-2 season before that.
And he had the #1 team in the country coming back in 2007. No program in the history of college football would have fired him for Saban at that point. (Keep in mind 2007 Saban didn't have the reputation as current Saban.
P.s. Les won the NC THAT year lol.

LSU was 72-42 in SEC over that time span. That’s not average. Only Alabama and Georgia were better.
