What's "EPL"?

I don't think the level of "parity" in the NFL. I would really hate if they just level the playing field to the extent that NFL/MLS has.

But, that's probably the road we're on. Playoff expansion is a huge step in that direction, and something will HAVE to be done to fix/change the portal/NIL situation.

SMH .... free agency, caps, and parity ...... in college football.

Take a freshman every other year, and a transfer portal jr. / sr. every time you can get your hands on one.

EPL is English Premier League soccer where teams can make offer and buy contracts (players) for a transfer fee. Similar to trades in NFL except always with cash, not trading this player for another in return. Soccer is a global market crossing all leagues e.g. a MLS team can sell a player to a team in Europe, etc.

Ultimately, they cracked open the college football system and threw in some free market concepts and now they’re going to realize what several pro leagues have learned - the overall product / ratings / fan interest / sponsorships all do better with some regulation and manufactured parity (opportunity).

Hold that thought. This will be the exception, not the rule in the future. It’s young and it’s not going to get better

Also why would a Qb go somewhere to be a backup? You dont get better sitting the bench. The best QB developmental pathway seems to be to go to the quickest starting position, get some experience and then make the jump to a bigger/better program. LSU should bring in a qb that has already started a couple seasons instead of taking a chance on high school kids. i think this is the future of college football as much as i hate it.

Because the transfer market is unpredictable. Some years there may be diamonds in the rough and other years nothing. Can't build your QB room on blind luck.

This is the way it is going forward. The days of a program recruiting and keeping 2 or 3 upperclassmen QBs out of HS are over.

It's necessary to keep the pulse of talent, but spend the NIL money and program resources on the transfers kicking arse for their college teams with stats and results against college players.

With the current portal opportunities you can’t build your QB room beyond the upcoming year. There’s absolutely nothing preventing a future QB like Nuss or any other teams future QB from leaving. Future development and stability has left the building.

Every starting QB in the playoffs went to their school out of high school.

4 of 5 QBs of P5 champion teams went to their school out of high school. The only exception is Cam Rising at Utah played at Texas as a freshman.

Out of 10 QBs in P5 conference championship games, 7 signed out of high school.

How many signed within the last 2 years when NIL was permissible and you were able to transfer without sitting out?

A lot has changed very recently. The guys starting those games were almost all upperclassmen. They didn't have the money and transfer advantages when they were younger and not starting.

Well especially when you factor in the amount of money and time it took recruiting Howard.

Huh?! I’m not seeing much time and cost to recruit a kid 30 minutes away who’s always wanted to play for you.

Agree. The portal is now more important than the high school signing day

So here is the thing, BK said he wants to build the program from the HS ranks and sprinkle in xfers as needed.

He had his QB for that purpose and basically drove him away somehow.

Please explain how he drove away a redshirt Fr who has less experience than the two QB in front of him?

I think it was wrong after the bowl for him to say JD was the starter.

You think its wrong to say JD, who now has over 40 starts under his belt in two power 5 conferences and just led you to the western division title and the SEC title game while playing with a completely revamped Oline with two true freshman on the line, that he is still the starter? Seriously?

quote:

In the fall, there should be competition and may the best many win.

No need to wait for the fall...the spring was Walkers time to truly compete for the QB position after agreeing to redshirting his freshman year, but it was HIS CHOICE to leave when he wasn't assured of at least the 2 position so if he lost the battle to Nuss, which most likely he was going to, he wouldn't have to practice with the scout team as the 3rd string QB.

and lets not forget incoming QB Ricki Collins he would now also have to contend with...
