McMahon contract was anything but “bargain hunting”, a term that SW has never heard of in his life.
Actually, compared to the rest of the league, it’s near the bottom. He basically got a 7-year extension of the same pay that Wade was at (keeping in mind that Wade didn’t get any raise or extension since 2017 - except for the contractual increase). I get it the length of the contract makes it look big, but the annual pay is near the bottom of SEC coaches.
Except for inflation type of adjustments, we are paying the same on an annual basis that we paid in 2017. No other school in the league is in that same position.
ETA. According this list, only SC pays their HC less than we do.

He’s just a bozo that pops in to play the contrarian role with no actual substance behind his opinions. If the board suddenly changed their opinion of McMahon tomorrow he’d change his. But don’t challenge him. He’s HIGHLY educated with many degrees. Just don’t ask him what they are. He can’t tell you
Every current and historical datapoint says McMahon is the least successful HC LSU has had in 50+ years. But don’t worry, his teams can play well for 20 minutes. By year six he may ratchet up to a full 40 minutes

This is such a BS narrative and you know it. You’re discounting the 2019 Sweet 16 run to make your point. Wade has taken 3 teams to the tournament (and won games with 2 of them) and won league championships in 3 different leagues, including a P5 league. All before his 41st birthday. Their resumes are not even close. Please find any other coach that had this level of consistent success by that age.
Oh by the way, when jobs come up this year, see how many people lineup to interview Wade versus McMahon.
ETA. If MM has less talent than 95% of the league, then that’s on him. His HS recruiting and transfer classes have been around the 50% mark in the SEC. So either he’s bad at evaluating talent or developing it.

Where were you in the past two game threads? You and the rest of the McMen Guild were noticeably absent. Just a coincidence I’m sure.

We really need to get rid of Kelly and McMahon, in one fell swoop.
This is LSU-- and we should be at the top of the SEC in football, MBB and WBB, baseball and softball. Nothing less is acceptable.

It’s not even a correct stat. McM has 2 actual NCAA tourney wins. Wade has 4.
Edit: Also, let’s compare their SEC coaching records.

He’s not counting the two from 2019 because Wade was suspended.
He’s got to do some gymnastics to try to make them even, because they are not even.

The McMen are so desperate. Oh, well. They will have their wish and get McM for another 2-years of exciting basketball in the McMorgue.

That dude is completely disingenuous and uses the same NCAAT wins line in every LSU MBB post. Just check his post history.
I am the one that challenged "him" to an IQ test challenge. And "he" has only ghosted since - outside of some random "drittz" drive-by.
I've called "him" a pussy for ignoring my challenge. And that is where the pussy still sits.

I don't think McMahon is necessarily bad at anything except lighting a fire under LSU to care about basketball.
wade said he spenf half the day yelling at school admins to care about basketball. that doesn't seem necessarily like part of the job of a coach but nevertheless wade did it and he won. apparently you need to do that at LSU, they just don't care and are content to win in football and baseball.
I dont agree that McMahon lacks fire or X and O's or talent eval skills. I think he may lack the fire to go force LSU to make hoops a priority. and that's bad and he cant win much unless the school gets on board.

Who cares about men's basketball.
Seriously.

Cheaper to keep him.
Costs more to buy him out & hire a new staff than to double the recruiting budget. He’s not a great coach, but his lack of available funds gives him an excuse for losing.

Weak argument. New staff will generate interest and increase revenue to offset any buyout, which will be paid over 4 years and offset by MM new job compensation.

At least you called him by his real name, not some childish McSomething.
Certainly not a McMahon fan and will be glad to see him gone but all the McSomething name calling is 3rd grade level.
DV all you want, I'm and old boomer and DGAS.

Woodward doesn't give a mother fricking frick about basketball. That's it. That's all. That simple.
It's not just Woodward. It's probably Tate and some members of the Board too. You have to read between the lines. Wade won but he also pissed a lot of people off the in the process. They don't want him back and they're waiting for someone else to hire him before they bring in a new coach. The politics involved in this shite is why LSU can't get out of it's own way more often than not.

Next year will be really dark for the basketball program as we honor the 2006 Final Four team. Honoring that team while watching the horrible coaching and effort may really galvanize the fan base to demand a change in leadership.

The posters that never care about LSU MBB... and then care.

I just assume the posters backing McMahon hate basketball and want to see the program slip into perpetual slumber. More resources for their pet sport.
Otherwise, it's completely illogical.
