Why are we retaining McMahon?

What is he doing to make one think that he's a capable coach?
He lacks energy to motivate players.
He's not a great X and Os guy.
He's not good at evaluating talent.
He's atrocious at in-game management.
Has no clue how to setup a roster.
He can't put butts in seats.
There is literally nothing that he does well that warrants brining him back.
He is on the verge of going 14-40 in his first 3 years of SEC play and may finish in last for the second time.

Athletic department doesn't have a want in men's basketball

We'd have to be relatively big money to buy him out. May as well put that money into the program than give it to him to not coach us. And if we invest in the program for a year or two with no tournament appearances to show for it then you can buy him out for much cheaper and probably spend near the same amount when it's all said and done.

You gonna feel sooooooooooo dumb when in like 3…4…5…6…7…8 years tops he gets us to the tourney.

Apparently our AD sees something in him that the rest of us can’t see.

One of these years he’s going to hit the right mix of transfers to field a competitive team. Missouri was 0-18 in SEC play.

Gates' had already proven he could put together a team in an offseason the year prior. McMahon is 0-3.

McWoodward is a basketball McMA....(He accepts mediocrity in the basketball program)

The media keeps talking about this huge buyout that LSU would have to pay if we fire him. If you read the contract, it's a monthly payment that would be made until July 2029 minus his basketball earnings at whatever McMahon's next venture would be. The $8 - $9 million figure being thrown around, where it's implied LSU would have to come up with this money right away, is BS. It would be insane to keep banging our heads against the wall with Matt McMahon in 2026. Hopefully the report by Shea recently was fed to him as cover to get the season over with without too much drama and they make a move in a couple weeks.

Because Scott Woodward is scared to death of being on the market for a coach with Wade still at a mid major. It would be extremely embarrassing when the best coach on the market is a guy you ran off.
The NIL crap is all an excuse because of Woody’s ego. Instead we’ll keep MM and fire him next year at a reduced buyout and either over pay for a “big name” coach that is past his prime or go bargain shopping like we did with McMahon. The end result will be a mediocre (at best) basketball program.

See it’s been over 30 minutes. Glad somebody started another one of these threads so everybody could get some more bitching in. You would think even if the most ardent haters would get tired.

Why are we retaining McMahon Post here on TD?
This is a dead horse that gets beaten and posted here every 15 minutes.
Plus he is missing around 22-25 points without Ward and Reid this season. People forget he lost a returning scorer in Ward before the season started.

McMahon contract was anything but “bargain hunting”, a term that SW has never heard of in his life.

We should scream it from the rooftops because it's fricking shameful. We got people on the softball coach's arse because she only finishes in the top 15. Meanwhile, what we should trying to grow since it's our #2 revenue producer is in a dogfight for 15th in the conference and is thankful for the volleyball team so they won't finish dead last in attendance in their own building.
