Look like men with our boys.
On our 35 player roster we have exactly 6 players shorter than 6'.

The shortest player on the team is Chris Reid who is 5'9" and weighs 182 lbs. He was 3-time All-State in football at St. Michaels HS in Baton Rouge.

Among the other players shorter than 6' are Antoine Duplantis (5'11"), Gavin Dugas (5'10") and Josh Smith (5'10").

Which of those would you like to replace with a bigger player?

We also have 11 players on our roster who are 6'4" or taller.

And he's one of our best home run hitters. What does it matter how tall he is or how much he weighs?

Lsu cant do it nearly as well with tops, its a disadvantage

Yes, Vandy, TCU, Stanford have it even better but compared to %99 of the rest of College Baseball LSU has a huge advantage because of TOPS.

That’s a straw man argument, they’re talking about size period and I didn’t know if Josh336 meant he considered Smith to be a big player or what. Since it’s an argument of opinion he can kinda set the bar wherever he likes and he listed Josh Smith as a big guy.

For real.

There have been years when this argument could hold a little water but this ain’t the year.

We’ve got some absolute monsters on this team

Dups and Dugas are maybe 5’9ish” which isn’t terribly small and Dups is incredible. Look at Mike Fontenot and Theriot’s build though.

I’m not arguing one way or the other about the team being small. It’s not a height thing IMO but more about weight. Most LSU fans are used to the stockier wide guys mixed in with a handful of tall monsters. It does look our guys aren’t as built/ filled out as a lot of the other top teams. This all goes back to recruiting speed vs power.

Again, i think most are bitching about the build of our players, not the height. LSU has some tremendous athletes on this team. I do wonder about S&C though. From injuries to the players builds, they don’t look elite. Not saying they aren’t elite though. Just a different kind of ball player CPM has been recruiting the last 8 years

I've stood next to Antoine. He is NOT 5'9", ish or not ish.

I'm 6'2" and I thought he was right at 6'. The roster has him listed at 5'11" and that seems right to me based on my personal encounter with him.

Okay if you’re looking for thick guys then let’s look at Garza, Reid, Beloso and Cabrera. 4 of our regular starting 9 are all over 180lbs

Then let’s look at height.

Garza, Watson, Gio, Bianco and Beloso are over 6’ so that’s another 5 guys who have logged starting time that are 6’ or taller.

The only guys falling out of that are Smith, duplantis, Broussard and Hughes.

Smith has been our best hitter all year. Duplantis has been one of the greatest contact hitters in the history of LSU and Broussard was our second best hitter in the SEC tourney.

This is a stupid arse conversation

Because CPM thinks shortstops should play every position.

Think the discussion is mostly about position players. A 1st baseman 6’2” or taller would be OK.

LSU could field a BB team with the pitching staff height.
