He will be here next year, but it will be on a much more lucrative contract for him. You can take that to the bank. He's already earned it.

Or Ensminger got what he needed from Brady and doesn't need him anymore. Just win baby. I'm an LSU fan. I don't care what coaches are here as long as they win.

For all we know Brady is as integral to this offense as he was to the Saints offense.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but looking at it from the outside in, it seems like Brady is the main guy responsible for the offense. He is the one thing different about the offensive coaching staff from last year to this one. The difference between the offense is night and day.

No real program would roll the dice on him for a while

You could be right here again, but recent trends in coaching hires suggest otherwise. Kingsbury got fired by Texas Tech and hired as an NFL head coach, simply because he is a young offensive mind. I'm in no way suggesting that Brady will be Fielding NFL head coaching offers, but he perfectly fits the mold of what teams are looking to hire now. If the offense continues on this path I think making him the OC will be a must in order to keep him.

yeah i think it was pretty clear in the offseason if this experiment worked out, Brady would move to OC and SE would go back to "TE" coach, aka, OC-lite. that's basically what SE has been while at LSU, other than when O has had him be full time OC.

SE is the guy O trusts and he's going to be retained in some fashion under O until he retires

Not only that, but this whole thing was exactly what Steve wanted...Steve has been trying to retire and was probably going to retire after this year, but now will probably stick around a few years with Brady. If Brady leaves I would guess that Steve retires, which makes these discussions of LSU choosing Steve over Brady completely absurd. The most likely scenario is both here next year, then neither here, with one and not the other as the least likely possibility.

He's running a Top 5 offense

Coach O asked about final call between Ensminger and Brady:
"They're both on the headsets. Steve makes the final call, but sometimes Joe makes the call. It's all up to Steve.
Steve makes about 90% of the calls."

Who's running the top 5 offense?

I think it is highly unrealistic that he takes any job without at least letting LSU counter that offer.

Not unrealistic. If a program REALLY wants Brady, they'll find out every little thing Brady wants in his dream contract.

Then they will get the AD, college prez, and major boosters to sign off on it (with an extra perk package, just in case)

Then they'll get the coach and his agent in a meeting and say, "We have authorized every item on your list. It is a done deal on our side. But we must have your signature now. Sorry, but those are our marching orders... deal or no deal? - We can sweeten it a little if needed but we need your answer now. Deal?"

The last thing they want is for the coach to listen to other offers. They make a great preemptive offer. Again, most coaches sign the dotted line.

Most coaches take that deal.

Of course many will belittle any and all contributions from E.

Joe schmo! Brady is not the only guy in the world who knows how to install or can learn to install the Saints style offense. Besides E has been totatlly involved in the installation and is learning this offense from Brady along with E being a ptretty damm good OC himself. If Brady wants to leave than leave I trust O to find another young buck to take his place or E to take what Brady knows and his knowdlege and keep this offense in place.

yeah this isn't a competition b/w SE and Brady. he didn't want to be OC but took one for the team b/c of the Canada disaster hire by O

it's clear they took a chance on Brady to modernize our offense, learn under SE, and then take over if it worked out. it seems to be working so it's not like we're going to fire SE. he has a spot with O for as long as he wants, but neither SE nor O probably want him as OC in 2020

Yeah. I thought the same thing even after the Ga So game. But after the Texas game, I'm a total believer that Brady is head and shoulders above the competition.

And after watching the Michigan dumpster-fire-attempt at a Spread/RPO, I'm even more of a believer (so are the Michigan fans)

I wonder how much of the offensive shift in philosophy is due to what Brady has brought to the table or versus O and E having a QB who they actually trust to sling the ball, especially in crunch time?

Most agents say, no deal.

Because agents understand leverage and that they can most likely get the same or better contract from their current employer.

Realistically outside a HC job or an NFL OC job (both not realistic despite out success) he is looking at a job as an OC at a P5 school.

We can offer that.

He is looking at money

We have a track record of offering that and matching or exceeding outside offers.

You don't negotiate against yourself.

You tell the guy, hey we want to promote you at the end of the season. If you start getting offers, know that we will match them.

How many schools can really outbid us for Brady?

we paid Canada 1.7 Million. We had 2 of the top 4 paid assistants in college football in 2017.

And we offer him continuity vs. starting over.

This is why you dont' see a lot of P5 coaches get poaches from schools that really want them.
