Why is O allowed to simply say he learned his lesson after his failures at Ole Miss? Everyone that supports EO says you can't look at his record at Ole Miss because he learned from his mistakes. Anyone would obviously assume after each losing season at Ole Miss surely he would try different things from the year before. Is it just because he's from SE Louisiana?

Denial, which is understandable, or ignorance, which is unforgivable.

Well, they're not ignoring it. Some are excusing it, without a doubt.

How can we ignore when someone brings it up every 5 minutes?

I said it from day one. He should have had to take a smaller head coaching job and built his HC record up before getting the LSU job. Unacceptable hire.

Well maybe ignoring is the wrong word. They seem to excuse it.

Ignoring it? Have you searched "miss" on this board?

OTOH, what does losing at Ole Miss really mean other than, normal

When we were all arguing on here during the coaching search, it was almost like half this website argued "That was so long ago, he's learned from everything he did wrong, look at what he did at USC and LSU as interim!"

It was mind numbing.

Imagine if your business/company hired people that were historically bad at their job when they worked for your closest competitor?

If he had won more than his peers, it would be different. But he was dramatically worse than the guy before and after him. And was the worst in their history.

This is what's sad about his record there though. It wasn't even normal by their standards.

Even if we take all of that in as valid commentary, why wouldn't we call up Curley Hallman, Howard Schnellenberger, or Larry Coker? Orgeron's not even the best failed coach we could've gotten.

"But he learned from his mistakes."

2016 against Florida: get into a pregame altercation with the opponent, lose the game.

2017 against State: get into a pregame altercation with the opponent, lose the game.

2016 against Florida: Let your star RB fill out his own lineup card despite clearly not being close to 100%, lose the game.

2017 against Syracuse: Let your star RB fill out his own lineup card despite clearly not being close to 100%, come very close to losing the game.

Doesn't seem like a guy that learns from his mistakes.

Dear Sweet 6 lb 8 oz baby jesus,

Please let us just get through the next few weeks of football so we don't have to constantly deal with these stupid threads anymore.

Thank You,

Nobody is ignoring it now. I'm certainly not. But it's irrelevant. Completely, utterly, totally irrelevant to what is happening at LSU in 2017.

If you dwell on it, you're part of the problem. The time to consider that is before you hire him. The powers that be apparently did and took his job (which we must admit has been admirable) as an interim HC at 2 top tier schools, including here, as overriding that.

Now - is what he did at USC also irrelevant now? Yeah. So is his work as interim LSU HC, although less so, because it was more or less a continuum - he didn't stop doing that job to take the permanent gig.

However - to reiterate - what happened at Ole Miss under O is IRRELEVANT to what is happening at LSU under O in 2017.

Move on, or remain part of the problem.

This and people are routinely wanting to push aside the Ole Miss record, while holding up other pieces of his career: his National Recruiter award and his interim stint at USC. So "some" of his history matters, just not all of it.

The mental gymnastics are hilarious.
