Are you serious? You don't care if people like D. Byrd and P. Peterson, while in highschool, could tune in to CBS and watch LSU play? Or LaFell or Lee or Brooks? You don't think that was one of the factors that made them choose to come here?

No, the only thing that matters is that he has to sit through a few extra minutes of timeouts. It also doesn't matter that CBS pays the SEC billions of dollars, that those dollars trickle down to LSU, and that they use them to build nice facilities to impress the recruits and pay for their recruiting trips. All these perks are clearly not worth the imposition of the original poster.

I agree. A lot of potential future tigers saw some pretty damn good games on TV this year and very possibly decided that they want to be a part of that one day. Exposure is NEVER a bad thing.

Yup. And as for the man in the red hat that comes onto the field for commercial timeouts, I have re-trained my brain (so that I stop looking for something to throw at him). I have taught myself to associate him with LSU's recent highly ranked recruiting classes. Now when he steps out onto the field I raise my watered down bourbon and coke above my head and simply toast the fat phuck.

& on a serious note...CBS exposure is great for LSU....makes the games last WAY TOO long, but still great exposure.

Yep, we'd be better off with millions of dollars of lost revenue, little national exposure, and recruits going elsewhere to play on tv.
Yep, great idea.

When I get sick of the lame TV announcers, I use the mute button. You folks in Louisiana can mute the TV and turn on the radio broadcast. Simple.
I remember long ago (yes, I'm that old) before cable TV was standard in every home. It was touted as the next great thing -- TV without commercials! Look how that's turned out. Even the public TV channels have commercials.
You've got commercials on the field and behind the goalposts during every kick. Expecting the amount or length of commercials to be reduced isn't realistic. It's only gonna get worse. Unfortunately, the college game we love and the fans are the ones who suffer because of this increasing commercialism.

I do, every chance I get. And the feeling is mutual.
But I really don't like the daytime scheduling.

How awesome would it be if CBS could have more "flexible" time slots for their games? Like ESPN. I think ESPN likes to televise our games at night, because of our tradition. If CBS could be sensitive to the few schools in the SEC that like night games, and slide those games to the 7:00 spot, it would be awesome.

I thought ABC going to Saturday night games a couple of years ago would urge CBS to do the same, but it hasn't. Hard to imagine CBS primetime lineup has a much higher rating than college football, but it must. There's no other reason.

CBS won the prime time ratings share for LSU-Florida last year...Most watched program of the evening. I hope they consider that for LSU-UGA this year:

I could be wrong on this, but I think their time slots are carved in stone for the 2008 season. They will have two 7:00 games (I think); LSU at Florida and one other weekend with a TBD match-up (but not the LSU-UGA weekend). So the earliest they would expand on their number of night games would be the 2009 season. I'm pretty sure about this, but again I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong.

Really!?!
It's all about the money and exposure. LSU can't have too much of either one. LSU is in primetime now due to past success. No way should we pass on CBS games. :

I am not. Much rather ESPN, because that would mean they are at night in TS.

Like on 8/30?
I agree with you. Both networks are national, and ESPN usually puts us at night.

They destroy the momentum of the game. They take the crowd out of it, which is a BIG DEAL in TS.
I was at the Arky game, it seemed like the frickin red shirt official was on the field for longer than the players.
You hit the nail on the head. I was there too and it was the longest game I've ever been to in Tiger Stadium (not to say I don't consider every moment in Tiger Stadium a blessing). Taking nothing from Arkansas but I think we would have won that game if not for all the TV timeouts and officiating. The TD pass to Hester that was called back is one of the worst call's ever.
